Gayrilla Biscuits

Of all the crap joke straight edge parody records out there, this is the only one that ranks as half decent in my opinion – the first Gayrilla Biscuits 7″. Important to say ‘first’ because they actually did a second one a few years later which was total crap. But this one gets it all right. As the cover hints with it’s Project X parody photo, this record contains some well played covers of straight edge classics with the lyrics all changed to homosexual based content. It’s clever and it’s fun. I’m also pretty sure that the dudes who did this are all gay themselves, which means you can and sing along to ‘Nailed in the ass’ and ‘No homosexual surrender’ without feeling that you’re supporting homophobia, which is an added bonus. There were 300 of these things total and this is actually pretty hard to find, and I’ll be interested to see what this ends up going for.

Pretty funny though that seller to_praise_prosthesis states in his description “It’s my favorite joke record of all time and something actually worth owning“… yet clearly it’s not worth owning enough for him to keep. Ah well – his loss, your gain.

I actually asked Lou Koller if he had heard of this 7″ a few years ago given that one of his band’s songs is covered (or slaughtered) on here. His response was something like “yeah, it’s great, they do ‘fags like you’, I’ve got it on my ipod“. So there you go.

Pink Vinyl And Party Shirts.

Remember when Right Brigade was the shit? I mean people used to seriously put them on a level with Cro-mags and Floorpunch. Now, I don’t know about that, but I do know that the 7 inch still holds up, and the pink vinyl version that whatwegonnado is tight.

Also tight, Clevo’s party shirt in this otherwise underwhelming live set from the legendary and lamented Hanover House in CT:

5th Degree Burn.

Is it me or have we seen a lot of pink wax Burn 7 inches like this one being sold by iheartprunes lately?

I went and checked our archives, and this is the 5th one since December. Not that I’m complaining, mind you, as the more of the 1000 pressed that turn up, the better the odds of me getting one for far cheaper than the $75 BIN on this one.

Nothing To Nothing

Since Tear It Up are doing a reunion at the end of March, I guess there’s no better time to post up this LP from bleedingedges. This LP makes me think of shows at the Berwick, and breathing in all the shit floating in the air while navigating through mountains of afro sheen (if you know, you know). What a glorious time for hardcore in Boston.

The record release show for this LP (either 2001 or 2002, can’t remember off hand) was the same day that the Pats won the Super Bowl, and I remember getting back to Boston that night and the city was in a state of absolute mayhem. Unfortunately the Pats did not win last night as Tom Brady was probably too busy thinking about that Uggz endorsement he just reeled in.

Anyways, there are about 200 of these on pink, the early copies in the run have lots of black streaking with them but I don’t know if those were ever sent to the buying public — except maybe Clevo, as he was the #1 order when the LP came out and I remember Jon at Dead Alive sending him something cool for being first in line.

A Pair of Pink.

These two auctions from xscottbeuryx have pretty much nothing in common. There are only two things I can think of are that they both have one word band names, and both have 7 inches that were pressed on some nice lookin’ pink vinyl.

Obviously Panic doesn’t come close to touching Burn with a ten foot pole, but then again, who does?

PINK ON THE OUTSIDE!

I’ve read that records pressed on black vinyl are of a better quality than color vinyl and that when it comes to colored vinyl the more colors mixed the lower the sound quality, but I dont know if any of that is true or not. I’m a sucker for colored vinyl of all kinds! I love a nice clear vinyl, I like blue vinyl a lot, I love a lot of the fancy paterns and color mixes that Bridge 9 does, but for this post I’m gonna focus on PINK!

Here is a copy of the Melvins ‘Stoner Witch’ on a nice bright pink vinyl. The seller says its limited to 5000 copies, but I’m not sure if thats 5000 on pink or 5000 total. Either way Melvins vinyl is always a big hit on eBay!

Green Days breakthrough album ‘Dookie’ was the last album they releasd that I had any real interest in and its far from my favorite, but watching this pink vinyl copy spin on a turntable would make it a little better!

Heres a copy of the ‘My Fire Burns’ 7″ from Strife on New Age Records limited to 175 copies and the seller has 3 of them to sell! I wonder if New Age got a deal on pink vinyl since this is a very similar color to the super limited Outspoken 7″ they also put out.

I think that Sliver is my favorite Nirvana song. Its very possible that the lyrics are a lot deeper than I understand, but the whole ‘grandma take me home’ part reminds me of being a little kid at my grandmas and wanting to go home. This copy is once again, on pink vinyl!

Last but not least we have Twisted Sisters classic ‘Stay Hungry’ LP on pink vinyl. The color matches Dee Sniders outfit perfectly… whats more metal than that!?!?

I dont know how limited it is, but its got a cool cover and its a collection of demos and out-takes. Great artwork, pink vinyl… someone should pick this up!

Pink is the new Black

Once again trashamericanstyle is helping your color vinyl addiction!

BANE – ‘It All Comes Down To This’ on PINK vinyl. I’m not a Bane expert, but I believe that there are only 100 copies on pink and that they were sold at the record release show. I’m not sure what it will sell for, but 100 copies of a Bane release is pretty low so jump on this while the price is low and hopefully it will end up fitting into your budget & your collection!

Gayrilla vs. Togay

I dont know to much about the Gayrilla Biscuits, but I know that this is their 2nd record. The first one had a ‘Project X’ parody cover, was put out by Slow Gun & was limited only 300 copies (all on clear pink vinyl). This follow up record was limited to 500 copies also all on pink vinyl, put out by Buddy Head and it was only available at a few stores in California or online from the band.

Youth of Togay is my favorite band of this genre. They’re funny as hell, they did an awesome cover of a Slapshot song (Lust/Last Laugh), they almost got sued by Bridge 9, they feature members of Boston X and Pat FNS has been in episodes of ‘My Name is Earl’ and ‘How I Met Your Mother’ in addition to being an awesome guy.

This Youth of Togay (CA and/or MA) record is a split with the band Fruit Punch (PA). There was a special preorder hand screened sleeve for this record (limited to 30), but this is the standard version limited to 500 I think and all on grey marble vinyl.

Give Up The Ghost vs American Nightmare

I missed the whole Give Up The Ghost/American Nightmare explosion when it happened. It was a time when I had closed myself off to ‘new’ hardcore band for some reason. I know that I missed a lot of good stuff from that time period because I’ve gone back and check out lots of it.

Because of that I dont have a super strong opinion on any of it, but I do really like the name ‘Give Up The Ghost’.

this is Equal Vision Records 2003 ‘We’re Down Til We’re Underground’ on pink vinyl limited to 200 and ending VERY soon!
