Poison Idea – Darby Crash Repress TEST

Before you get too excited, no this isn’t the original Poison Idea Darby Crash Rides Again 7″ on American Leather Records. Actually it isn’t even close. For starters it’s a 12″…

However, it is a very nice looking test for the expanded repress released last year on TKO Records. This version contains the Darby demo, Boner’s Kitchen demo, a live radio show and some “Record Collectors” outtakes.

According to the description from seller scummie-66 this was personalized to, and comes right from, singer Jerry A.’s collection. It is number 5 of 25 total pressed.

The Darby demos are some of the very earliest material the band ever recorded. Seriously, not a bad pickup for a decent price. Plus, it’s Poison Idea. It’s all good.

Exploding Hearts – Teenage Faces

Looks like hardcore.temptation was able to snatch up a lot of records from a closing distribution, as it states in this auction here. Good move. He is also from Portland, which is where the Exploding Hearts were from. I first heard about this band a bunch of years back. I probably was complaining about wanting more of the late 70′s / early 80′s British to have better pop sensibilities or something. Seems like something I would complain about. “Why didn’t The Clash write more songs like Lost In The Supermarket??” That’s when I was introduced to the Exploding Hearts. The play the songs just right, and seem to have also dressed the part perfectly. They were the kind of band that when you listened to them, you couldn’t help but think, “This band could be huge!” The sad part of the story is, if you aren’t familiar, that one night after a show, two of the members of the band were killed in car accident just prior to the release of their debut LP Guitar Romantic.  Give em a listen if you haven’t ever heard em. The wikipedia listing for these guys is pretty detailed. Assuming this record is on black vinyl, it is either part of 300 in the first press, or 500 in the second. Which makes it pretty rare either way.

LOCKJAW Dead Friends 7″++

A while back I posted the first Lockjaw ep, and here’s the second. Musically this sounds pretty much exactly like the first ep, and imo this one’s harder to find, so jump on this if you’re a fan. Skinhead hardcore at its finest!

Also from the same seller is the Drinking Is Great 7″ comp, with tracks by Poison Idea, Lockjaw, E-13 and Final Warning. Aside from Poison Idea, this comp is the only other material released on vinyl by these bands. I’ve posted records by all of those bands before, so if you’re unfamiliar, click the Fatal Erection tag below.

These and a bunch of other good records are being sold by my man Mitch SXE, Japanese tour promoter extraordinaire and the first guy I ever traded records with in Japan.
