press your own Black Flag vinyl

another rare item from the Dukowski collection, but this time its rarer than a test press!

This is a nickel stamper for side #2 disc #1 of BLACK FLAG’s “EVERYTHING WENT BLACK”. New stampers were being made and Chuck asked to have one of the old ones while I was at the pressing plant for some business. His original plan was to make a fake platinum record award to hang in his office.

Pretty rad piece to have and definitly cheaper than The Beatles pressing plate from last week!

BEATLES “ORIGINAL Rare 1964 Metal Stamper” from which the A-Side of the 45rpm “TWIST & SHOUT” was originally pressed on TOLLIE Records, (9001 & OL-152), a subsidiary of Vee Jay.

RARE IS NOT THE CORRECT TERM TO DESCRIBE THIS ITEM. Technically, this item shouldn’t even exist, due to the fact that according to the court decision handed down as a result of the most famous lawsuit in recording industry during the early 1960s between CAPITOL RECORDS and Vee Jay, all METAL STAMPERS used by Vee Jay with regard to specific BEATLES recordings were to have been destroyed to prevent Vee Jay or their sister labels TOLLIE and OLDIES from pressing any additional BEATLES records.

Some time ago, rumors had surfaced stating that some STAMPERS, MOTHERS & MASTERS were NOT DESTROYED. Obviously that was a true statement. These rumors also stated that the people who purchased Vee Jay when it was about to go bankrupt, claimed they purchased all material from them. Obviously they did not buy everything due to the fact that much of the material involved, such as items like this one, and many 45 rpm and 33 1/3 rpm recordings along with PROMOS and TEST PRESSINGS, had already been taken by Vee Jay employees or was already in the hands of private collectors. These unsubstantiated rumors also stated that many of the items purchased were stored in an off-site locations. Whatever was stored, was obviously NOT everything. Regardless of any rumors, these items obviously do exist and in the smallest of numbers, making them quite rare and extremely collectible.
