Test Press Tuesday Teaser: Ceremony

Tomorrow is Test Press Tuesday and Morgado has it all lined up with some excellent posts. But since a few of these are ending soon, I wanted to give you a first shot at them. I’m not sure who karixmonster is, but this individual is connected. Some excellent little gems here, with great full stories.

he god thunder lightning

violence violence rejected The first set of test presses (15) had 8 songs on side A, 5 on side B. These were rejected, as the split was an awkward one, and the band wanted all 13 songs on both sides. The second set of test presses (10) had a very long, 2 second gap between tracks 8 and 9. Then the THIRD set of test presses (5) had a gap between tracks 8 and 9, but just a half second, it just sounds like a skip in the record. This is one of those 5.

still nothing moves you Before it got straightened, bridge 9 accidentally pressed this with the wrong split of songs. 15 exist, this is one.

And then there is this. This is an artist print, whihc there are only 10 of. It’s like a test press for posters, they run these off first to make sure the print is right.

There’s a little bit of everything here. If you can find something to drool over, you are on the wrong page. Get into it.

Brighter Than A Thousands Suns: Converge Lots

Ugh. It seems like Brighter Than A Thousand Suns hit a lowpoint while touring through Morrow, Georgia last August. While on tour, their trailer was stolen. Like, the ENTIRE FUCKING TRAILER. The list of items stolen is mind blowing. It’s seriously numbing. This was nearly 200 days ago, but if you are in the area, still keep your eyes peeled, as it doesn’t seem like anything has been recovered yet. Over the last few months, they’ve busted ass to buy a bunch of gear back and have begun to tour again. I highly suggest you support these dudes (even if you haven’t heard them). The shit they went through sucks for ANY touring band.

selfmadesoul is pulling together scratch by selling off big chunks of vinyl and merch. This group consists of some excellent Converge vinyl and a few Jacob Bannon prints. Have a look and maybe snap up some excellent records for a good cause.

Jacob Bannon Art Show

Our friend Jacob Bannon has an upcoming art show in Beverly. If you are in the area, you better check it out. I’m already talking with the wife. We need to make plans to roll up to see this at some point. There is a reception this week, March 2. Would be cool to hit that one. But if you can’t make that, you can check out the installation from Feb 28 to March 22. Pretty cool.

art show

I wonder if we’ll see a print related to this show?

If not, you could always pony up for these Axe To Fall prints from blackmarketgallery. Blue and Red. Both limited to 250. Both from winter 2009/2010. Get into it.

Jacob Bannon

And what about this CANVAS from kruderf? It’s the Axe To Fall graphics professionally done on canvas. 80 inches wide. That’s almost 7′ wide (or over 2m for our metric friends). It wasn’t done by Jake though. It was a custom job. Not sure what to make of this one.

Stray Rats – Bane/TUI/Cruel Hand/Alpha & Omega Tour Print

One of our own, mfj00lz (sneakernoize.com, toynoize.com, …) is posting up some prints he made for a South Florida gig last year. This is part of his Stray Rats design work. Let me tell you, I’m a fan. Two thumbs up. You can’t really go wrong with Bane, Trapped Under Ice, Cruel Hand and Alpha And Omega. I saw a few of these gigs and was blown away by the tour package. He crafted these prints himself so make sure to snap up these few leftovers. I have a friend sitting on one with my name on it. Psyched to get it.

Backtrack – The 08 Demo

Here’s a cool little Backtrack lot. First you get the 08 Demo on vinyl. And not just that, but it’s the limited edition WWF cover and clear vinyl. Numbered out of 50. AND, on top of that, you also get a screened print from the record release gig, limited to 52. Not too bad at all. One thing, I’d ask lucianosworld to ship it flat. No need to get that print all creased up from folding. Folding can suck it. Anyone know who the artist is?? Sweet gig.

Ending Soon – Crucial Wallpaper

Our good friend xmaulx has some posters and prints ending within the next few hours. Some are at $1, some have no bids. Here is your chance to scoop some Florian Bertmer & Derek Hess originals for super cheap. Plus, the final True Colors poster is dope. Lots of great gems in his list, make sure to check them out. The first giant lot has some cool items. Well worth the price even if you only want a few. Flipping the rest would be super easy …

Buy Low, Sell High?

A few more from Vegas resident lionhearted75, and he must have lost a bundle at the craps tables or something, because he’s got a lot of high ticket items, saddled with high start prices. I figure he’s using the same thought process as with his YDL and Trip 6 demos, and is trying to simply make sure he gets back what he put in (as further evidence of this, the Bertmer print he’s selling initially sold for $75, which is his start price).

I get the logic, yet I can’t stop myself from saying it,… a low start price and a reserve are probably a better gamble.

Bad Bad Brains?

I love the Bad Brains. Chances are if you are reading this, you do too. I try not to think about people who don’t like the Bad Brains, let alone talk to them. (Exceptions to this rule exist, Dave.)

But for the most part, everyone loves the Roir Sessions. Rock For Light. Most can hang with the older material that surfaced later (Black Dots, Omega Sessions, various other recordings…) and a lot of people LOVE I Against I. I love all of it. Love the evolution of the sound. I think the live recordings are the only necessary live hardcore/punk recordings this side of Who’s Got the 10 and 1/2 and Live At CBGB’s that have been given a proper release.

But I don’t love Quickness. I like it now. It took some time and age, but I’m into it. But then there’s this one. Maybe it should have a promo sticker that says “WARNING: NO H.R.”…

RISE. Actually, a pretty crisp looking copy of the LP above. Do you need to own that? Well, maybe you do. I don’t. I really, really don’t. I wish it didn’t exist. But if you need that, compliment it with this…

A 36 x 42 poster celebrating an album that almost brought me to tears when I first heard it. Not really tears. Now that I think about it, it was anger. I couldn’t believe it was real. Now I can see the visual appeal of the poster (I GUESS)… but does anyone want to go for the trifecta?

I think this should be sent somewhere as visual evidence against the rest of the Bad Brains for crimes against auditory senses, as well as an absolute manslaughter against expectations.

Maybe I can help set people right. Here’s an image of what the actual greatest hardcore band should look like. Not what’s pictured above. And it’s a fancy, limited collectible by some Shepard Fairey guy.
