a tribute…

I got home from work last night at about 5:00pm and got a call from my girlfriends aunt. My girlfriend had just gotten home from work too and it was very odd that her aunt was calling the house for me. As I’m on the phone with her just looking at my girlfriend I could tell she knew something was wrong. After I hung up I had to tell her that her father had just died. He wasnt sick, was only in his mid 50′s and it was a total shock to everyone. As of now we’re still not sure what happened, but he had the day off from work and after his wife (my girlfriends mom) left for work he just never got up. She got home from work at about 5:00pm and he was still in the bed.

I know that this is not a standard Vinyl Noize post, but I wanted to share that because telling my girlfriend that her father died was one of the hardest things I’ve had to do. He was a really nice guy and a good man. He was a big fan of 50′s rock even though he was kind of young to be into it. I know very little about that era of music, but I had made him a copy of the Misfits Project 1950 record because I thought it was something we could kind of share in enjoying (even though its not a really great record). I know he didnt like the Misfits versions as much as the originals, but he was grateful for the CD.

I just wanted to post this up as a tribute to Andy Bourget. RIP

hilminster says this one is signed by Jerry Only, Dez Cadena & Marky Ramone. I can see and make out all 3 of those signatures, but it also looks like there is a 4th signature right near the Crimson Ghost on the back of the little guys jacket. I’m not sure who that could be?

its NINETEEN FIFTY, not ONE NINE FIVE ZERO

When this record came out I was aware that Jerry Only was the singer and that the band had changed, but I still grabbed it without thinking twice. I picked up the CD at Newbury Comics and put it in my CD player in the parking lot. I hadnt paid attention to the song titles or anything and I think I was 2-3 songs through it and wondering why all the songs sounded so familiar! Finally I looked at the track list and realized they were all 1950′s cover songs. When I picked it up in the store I thought that Project 1 9 5 0 was an odd name for a CD and didnt read it as Project 1950 (as in the year). Yeah… I was an idoit and it was pretty much a waste of $10. Until I put in the bonus DVD which has the band (Jerry, Dez & Marky) playing an outside show in the snow. They sound SO bad! Its like 3 guys that never played together trying to play songs they dont really know and people in the crowd are throwing snowballs at them. That was a big enough laugh for the $10 to be worth it! Poor Misfits… Jerry let it Rest in Peace already!

Heres 3 different colors of the Project 1950 LP if your interested. If not I still suggest you look for the video of them playing in the snow!
