State Of The World Address

Earlier today, I posted up an excellent Biohazard hockey jersey on TTD. It’s well worth a look. But it’d be remiss of us to NOT post this State Of The World Address promo LP. It has less than 5 hours to go and has ZERO bids. What’s up with that? I think it’s safe to say, when it comes to their best album, this one is nearly tied with Urban Discipline. Right? Wouldn’t you agree? Watch this video.

Touching. Don’t tell Evan someone is selling this promo LP. He’d probably shut it down.

PROMO TO EXPIRE!

all_originals has a white label promo copy of the Born to Expire LP from Leeway. His description says that “the sleeve has small tears on the front and back”. Now there are bids on this record so many I’m wrong, but I would not consider those to be ‘small’ at all!

Maybe the sleeve is the same as a regular copy and the vinyl is what makes it a promo so it doesnt really matter?

Master or Promos!

Here we have what I believe is a pretty rare Metallica promo LP coming out of Moscow, Russia!

Around 1989 I made my first ever record trade! I had bought 2 Sex Pistols 7″s at In Your Ear on Thayer Street in Providence RI and a friend of mine was pissed that I got them before him. Since he knew I was into a lot of metal he tracked down something he knew I would want just to piss me off. Eventually we made the best of a bad situation and just traded records! I know that 1 of the pistols singles was ‘Come On Everybody’ but I cant remember what the other one was. I do remember that what I got in return was a stamped & stickered promo copy of Master of Puppets (which I still have!).

Most promo LPs are just stamped or have the promo info written on it, but with this Metallica record they went way beyond that and put a printed sticker explaining about the cuss words used on the record. Definitly a cool piece for a Metallica collection. I’m hoping that this one sells for a lot because I will consider selling mine, but I think that it being in Russia might help keep the price low.

gotta love those BARS!

zzy49 has a Black Flag 12″ that I’ve never actually seen. Looks like a promo for 2 songs off the “In My Head” LP released by Cesstone & SST Records in 1985.

Apears to be regular LP versions of Drinking And Driving & It’s All Up To You on a 12″. I think the coolest thing about this is actually the huge logo on the back!

insane Sepultura promo box set

cautionzombiesahead must have worked for a record label or large retailer becuse this promo item is the kind of thing that I’m sure Roadrunner didnt hand out to every joe shmo that wanted one.

I’m not a huge fan of this Sepultura record, but this is still an awesome package. Its to bad that it didnt come with some super limted colored vinky or picture disc though.

Heres what you get….
- heavy wooden box with hinges and Roots artwork stenciled on
- Sepultura ‘Roots’ CD
- promotional VHS video from ‘Roots Bloody Roots’
- pestle & mortar
- folder with biography, discography, the Roots Companion (Track-by-track roadmap for Roots) & the Tribal Travelogue
- three glass jars with: Urucum, Arueira & Jurubeba
- a tribal necklace
- dried fruit
- two candles
- a printed 12″ x 12″ tracing paper
- straw-like wood to protect the content
- limited to 100 sets

Anyone know what the stuff in the jars is??

Bad Brains promo only 7″

If you’re in Canada check out all these auctions from Montreal. If you’re not in Canada you should still check them out, but try to combine shipping if you can!

I’m not sure exactly how rare this is, but the only other one I remember seeing is the one Chuck Dukowski sold awhile back. In his auction he said that there are only a couple of hundred and they were used for promotion only for the ‘I Against I’ LP and I assume Chuck should know! Based on all that it seems like it should have sold for more than it did. This one has a minimum bid higher than Chucks ended at, but if theres really only a couple of hundred pressed its not a bad price.

Coupla CRO-MAG rarities

Here’s a pair of cool Cro-Mags rarities, from different sellers…

1. Age Of Quarrel LP white label promo – I personally believe this to be the 2nd rarest version of AOQ, behind the infamous RUN-DMC label mispress. And since these always appear with the censored insert, it’s safe to say that censored copies are the first press (I’ve heard people say the non-censored pressing was first, which doesn’t make sense at this point).

Bummer that there’s no photo of the labels, but if you could catch this for the opening bid it’s a good price either way since it looks super clean. Ends in about a day so snap to it.

2. Age Of Quarrel 10″ – this is the AOQ demo tape pressed to vinyl, and this is the first press w/ red letters on the cover (2nd was green). I’ve always heard that this was a semi-legit “band-authorized bootleg”, and I’m pretty sure it came out of Switzerland. The cover contains the original art that was censored off of the AOQ LP version, though it did appear on the insert of the Euro press of AOQ on GWR Records (Motörhead’s label), which I’m sure is where the cover of this record was taken from.

People say this release is better than the actual LP, which on some days I’m inclined to agree with. Snag this copy and see for yourself.

Hardline, Hardline after Hardline!

And it goes, a one, two, three… Another funky, radical bombtrack, started as a sketch in my note book , But now dope hooks make punks take another look , My thoughts ya hear and ya begin to fear, That ya card will get pulled if ya interfere with the thoughts of a militant mind,

Look into combining shipping becuse theres a TON of records in jerusalem that you can buy!

This is a Rage Against The Machine promotional fanclub only 7″ of ‘Bomb Track’ live on the BBC and a live cover of the NWA song ‘Fuck The Police’ recorded live in Washington, D.C. at the Benefit Concert for Mumia Abu Jamal, August 13, 1995.

Based on the price I’m sure that this is not a super rare record, but this is the only other one I’ve ever seen. Back in 95-96 I actually got a copy of this 7″ in the mail and I never knew how or why. I must have ended up on some mailing list or something, but I never questioned it, I was just psyched to get a free record in the mail!

hardcore turntables

Add a dash of hardcore to your turntable no matter what record your playing with these Taang! Records 25th anniversary slipmats. They were done as a promo item in 2009 for Japan only, but luckily Curtis has some stockpiled and you can buy them from the Taang! store!

I AM TONY STARK

I thought this was a fitting record to post today as a little tribute to the original Iron Man, Mr. Tony Stark since Iron Man II comes out today.

1974 Warner Brothers promo 7″ of Black Sabbaths ‘Iron Man’. You get the mono version backed by the stereo version. I think my favorite thing about this record is that ‘Iron Man’ is 3:33 long which means that side A & B combined is 6:66 of Black Sabbath music!

Can’t Beat The Real Thing!

I dont know what the deal with these first two LPs are, but they are pretty funny! I’m Straight Edge and Coca-Cola is my drink of choice. I even have a XXX tattoo with a Coke theme to one of the X’s.

These first 2 records look like they might be part of a series which makes me wonder what other bands they have done or will do. I do know that my record collection is severly missing a promotional Coca-Cola ABBA picture disck though! The Doobie Brothers one is pretty awesome too! If they were cheaper I would definitly pick them up!

The third LP looks like it is various versions of the ‘Have a Coke and a Smile’ theme done in a bunch of different musical styles. unfortunantly this record is pricey too.

COCK SPARRER – Runnin’ Riot 7″ promo sleeve

Cock Sparrer’s legendary first single. Most of the time this record turns up without a sleeve, but if you’re lucky enough to stumble into one of these rare promo copies (issued in the UK, Spain and Portugal) you get this great picture sleeve of footie fans triumphantly invading the pitch.

This copy is still going pretty cheap so this could be a nice score for you to impress all the skinbirds with at the next scooter rally.
