S.N.F.U. – And No One Else Wanted To Bid…Please

Another absolute classic from seller vintagevinyl444 as he has one of the greatest punk/hardcore albums ever recorded up for grabs. Hey, I’m Canadian. Just roll with it.

“And No One Else Wanted To Play” by S.N.F.U. was the first full length album by this Edmonton, Alberta, Canada band. Released in 1985, it had a wide appeal for lots of disenfranchised youth. Punks, skins, headbangers and skaters all loved it. Hell, even some jocks I knew liked “Cannibal Cafe”!

This copy that vintagevinyl444 has up is especially awesome as it is a rare first pressing with the unauthorized Diane Arbus photo on the cover. This cover had to be replaced due to her estate pitching a fit and threatening further legal action. The second press had a drawing of the same picture and that got pulled too. All other subsequent pressings went with completely different artwork, which makes this auction so appealing.

Even with the sketchy description, this might be worth the low starting bid just for the cover alone. I think I just talked myself into bidding…

Le Cyanide a partir de l’Angleterre

One of my most favourite bands from the 70s. There was a time when I would listen to the Fireball track off the Back Stage Pass comp about 600 times a day on average. What’s amazing about CYANIDE is that unlike many of their contemporaries that released 2-3 great records and then “changed direction”, they knew when to break up and ended their carrier with a record that in my humble opinion was their best.

keefaz1 here has a lovely Vive La French pressing of their only LP. keefaz1 says the record/cover are in MINT- condition and in the very same line he states “seam split / wear on upper edge”.. So what is it??? Is it MINT? or does it have seam splits? Skipping on the fact that there are no MINT records from 1978 unless they have been kept in a hermetically sealed box for 34 years far from any life forms. Otherwise they are at best in good shape. I want to know who was the first to come up with this grading nonsense that “in record collection good means bad”

I have never heard a bigger load of shite. Anything that has splits to the spine is automaticalli in “fair” or “poor” condition. “Mint” means “new”. I really hope that the 98798675329675239476523 ebay sellers who think they’re vinyl experts and put record with seam splits into the “mint” category would have that branded on their mongoloid foreheads.

Anyway, if you are not a perfectionist pick this one up because it is well worth adding to any collection.

BLITZ test pressing limited to around 15,000-20,000

Since it’s Test Press Tuesday why not post a test press?
After last time I posted a BLITZ test pressing that turned out to be a shitty boot maybe this time around things will turn out a bit better
xundergroundx has a very rare and way OOP! TEST PRESSING of the 1st Blitz 7″.

One may think that at a $100 BIN this would be a bargain you would be stupid not to jump on until you realize that hypstr66 has the same record (slightly mis-described as the 1st press which it isn’t) sitting at 4 quid with some 2+ days to go

Since there were 25,000 of All Out Attack pressed in total and we know for sure there was 1000 of the 1st press with stamped labels that leaves us with 24,000 to split between the 2nd and 3rd press. Since the 3rd pressing is fairly hard to come by and the 2nd pops up on ebay just about every day for breakfast I’d say 15,000-20,000 of the blank labels 2nd press vs. 4,000-9,000 of the printed labels 3rd pressing with me personally leaning toward the 2nd 20,000 and 3rd 4,000 estimate, only because I see the blank labels version all the time and the 3rd press not all that often. I wonder if I’m far off in this estimate?

What I really want is the 2nd pressing with pinkish labels. Someone please sell/trade me one!!

The Nipple Erectors vs. The Nips

In the Slaughter post I mentioned Shane and Shanne which made me want to look if there were any Nipple Erectors / Nips records on right now. Quick search later and I bring you the 1st 7″ being sold by popclassics

and from the same seller the 2nd 7″ after they had shortened the name to The Nips:

Be quick on those as you don’t reall have ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD to win them auctions. I’d say about 5 hrs tops…
I’m way too young for this but I’d love to hear some teds vs. punk stories. If anyone has some please share. I always wondered how the Nips managed to pull this rockabilly sound/teddy boys look and still be accepted in the scene that wasn’t very teds friendly. It just shows how wide and open was the scene right at the very beginning before it became all uniformized.

SLAUGHTER AND THE DOGS will tear you apart!

Does anyone remember Don Letts The Punk Rock Movie? I used to have a VHS copy of the movie that was beat to shit and I would take photos of the bands straight off the TV screen with my mom’s old Russian LOMO CMEHA cam. I still had some of them in my dorm room in the 1st grade of high school along with a photocopy of some UK magazine page on which there was a photo of a dude with the hand made jacket that said SLAUGHTER AND THE DOGS WILL TEAR YOU APART.
The Slaughter footage from the Letts’ movie is beyond amazing. Trench coat covered with flour? Backed.. Check out young Shane MacGowan aka Shane O’Hooligan (back then the editor of the Bondage zine) pogoing in the opening sequence with the tit flashing bird who I think could be Shanne from The Nipple Erectors (anyone out there can confirm/deny this?)

After you have seen the video there’s absolutely no reason why you wouldn’t want to pick up this reasonably priced single from conflict6.
If your vinyl nerd meter is set to high you can enquire with the seller as to which version he’s selling as there were four different ones. Check for the comparison here.

Another state of mind

I don’t know who tgorder2012 is, but they have a gem on their hands. 1982 Social Distortion 1945 7″ on under my thumb records. I can’t even tell how rare this thing is because most of them were probably destroyed by shitty socal punkers living in craptastic apartments. I don’t know why I think that, but whatever. This was back when Mike Ness was going for that “sympathetic look.” This record is probably worth over $100 bucks or so, and the bid is only $40

Am I too late for Test Press Tuesday?

That’s too bad. I have just stumbled upon this lovely BLITZ Moscow/Propaganda test being sold by multichamp123. Supposedly only 2 of these exist which makes the $199 BIN quite appealing. If I am correct this is the last one of the REAL Blitz records before half of the band quit and the other half turned into a horrible new wave moany rubbish. I wish I could UNlisten that outrageous Telecommunication record… ugh..
This one on the other hand is packed with two classic street anthems that for some reason aren’t as popular as the songs from first three 7″s. Weird because these are great. Have I had the spare $200 I would be buying this instead of writing about it. Oh well… can’t have them all.

GERMS Lexicon Devil? Take your pick

Looks like our new resident poster chainxcrew is going to make out fairly well on this one. Already up to $600 in the first day. Maybe its due to the fact that he is giving the buyer the option to choose which of the TWO mint condition copies they want from him. The word mint is often thrown around and abused when it shouldnt be, but this dude knows his stuff and these are top copies. Go big or go home.
