If you read Maximumrocknroll in the 90′s, you probably saw classified ads from this seller – the infamous JUKKA SÄTERI of Finland, a legendary record scum. He was always offering crazy prices for the hardest to find records, his ads always blew my teenage mind that there was someone willing to pay hundreds of dollars for rare punk singles. Oh how times have changed.
Anyways, he’s got up a nice-price BIN copy of the Pure Hell ep, which is imo the first true punk record released by an all-black group (from Philly). Even the Bad Brains cite these guys as an influence! Unfortunately this single is their only proper release from back in the day, but fortunately their multitude of unreleased recordings were released a couple of years ago by Welfare Records up here in the Bay State. Unfortunately I can’t find one listed on ebay to post here, but it’s a killer collection of tunes that really toe the line from punk into the nascent days of hardcore, sounding something like if the Dead Boys became a hardcore band in ’79 or something. Awesome stuff.
