Bold – Looking Back

I can only imagine vitaminhedgehog saw the records and listings from aapjekoala before posting this Bold LP. Sure, it’s limited to 206 and yes, the purple is hard to come by … but no, the black streaks don’t make it a $230 BIN LP. The seller doesn’t appear to be a hardcore collector, as this is the only Revelation Records item they have. Everything else is Elvis and Beatles, for the most part. Hit the seller up, maybe you can swing a deal.

PS. kudos to whomever called that $440 Judge LP BIN years ahead of it’s time. I tried to pun up the title of this post along that lines, but couldn’t work it appropriately.

Rev Collection – Farside

I cant tell you a whole hell about this record as I dont think ive ever heard it but I did find out that in the first press there was 8300 on black wax. Holy shit thats a big press for an HC/Punk record, no? Did it sell that well? If so, thats pretty awesome!

What another nice treat for January! We dont see color Uniform Choice Lps but a few times a year. This LP came on 4 different colors. Red, Green, Pink, Purple. I feel like I see Purple the most though.
Were all the colors the same press? I think there is 500 of each color or am I making that up? Regardless of pressing info this one always seems to command a high price and itll be interesting to see how much Holiday money people are gonna throw down but we might not see that as the seller says “I reserve the right to pull the item if there is a good enough offer for it outside ebay.” Grimey move.

Im always consistantly shocked by the price this record goes for. I feel like it keeps going higher and higher. Shit, even the red vinyl copies go for like $100. I guess its due to its large demographic of fans but still. This usually peaks around 200 but maybe you can get this one for like $120 if youre lucky. in_vinyl_we_trust is hoping for the former though. Happy New Year

Rev Collection – GB on purple

Another one for the Rev collection. Gorilla Biscuits “Start Today” on purple wax. Utah666 doesnt have many auctions up at the same time but with this record and an 89 Cro-Mags mesh hat up I think he will do just fine in the paypal department. I bought this record maybe like 10 years ago and it was at max a 50 buck record. I actually picked up this, BID on green, and a PX 7″ with stamped labels all on the same day and no not from ebay but from an actual record store. Its crazy that a record with 1000 pressed on color goes for so much but then again Im willing to bet this is the most popular Rev release ever. Ill be psyched when record collecting dies out from being over saturated and prices get normal.

Mates Of State

I was introduced to Mates Of State a few years back. I’m pretty sure it was by Pandora. I had been surfing for Matt & Kim like artists when I wound up on Mates Of State. Now this band is NOT hardcore whatsoever so don’t get it confused.

However, they are a shining example of great indie rock. I love that female fronted indie rock sound. Not too laid back and not over the top with energy. Just a good drive with a few haunting tones. Plus the indie label that does all their tunes, Barsuck Records out of Seattle, WA has turned me on to a TON of other great sounding artists. Rilo Kiley, Harvey Danger, Menomena, Chris Walla (solo stuff), Say Hi … And you can find some of those bigger acts on this label too. Everything from Nada Surf to Death Cab For Cutie to They Might Be Giants.

I suggest looking into this band AND supporting this indie label. Good stuff going on here. Feel free to pick up this out of print color vinyl while you are at it.

Rev Collection – Ray and Porcell on purple

Another novelty release for your Rev Collection. Dont try to convince me this is a good release. I actually just finally picked this up a year or two ago for about 10 bucks. I dont suggest paying more than that. There is also a budget final press with xeroxed sleeves which makes it seem like they were just clearing out the last of the first press, no?

These are the top tier of the Rev 12″s. A solid foundation for your rev collection. It still amazes me how much they go for but then again these are on everyones list. I copped mine many many moons ago at my favorite brick and motar record store – Trash American Style(RIP). In fact I will say that over half of my record collection is from that store.
