SSDecontrol 2-fer

Seller 33eyez has been liquidating a really nice collection of classic American hardcore records and printed goods over the past few months, and he just launched a nice new batch of goodies for everyone to get their greasy little mitts on.

Although these aren’t my two favorite X-Claim! releases — the #1 and #2 spots are reserved for My America and Is This My World?, respectively, and these guys rank #3 and #4 with Get It Away over Kids — I have to say that every time I see either of the covers, a little Carl Brutananadilewski pops up in my head and says, “Classic, total classic.”

Side note: never realized till recently that Pushead’s Get It Away art is a direct lift of a Spirit comic splash page by Will Eisner.

Pushead’s Revenge

It seems that denimdemonjimmy has ended some of his Pushead related auctions early. Dude must have gotten some serious private offers and taken them down. Or maybe just decided to keep them. We may never know. But he still has a good selection of Pushead released 7″s on offer which you should buy for the packaging alone regardless of whether you know or even like the bands in question. Here are three that I already have in my collection which are coincidentally all on orange vinyl…

First up, some find Floridian stoner sludge rock courtesy of Cavity. This is the ‘Fiesta Grande’ edition of 300. I’ve only just bought one of these myself and have just this second put up a post about it on my blog using my new duel blog skills, so go check that out for more pictures and then come back here and bid on this here copy:

Next up, some good old DC emo alt rock courtesy of Dischord favourites Jawbox:

And finally the record which was for a good few years the most expensive record I had ever bought… the Sunny Day Real Estate ‘Spade And Parade’ 7″. This really is a beautiful item & I firmly believe that every household should have one:

Rocket Pack

I don’t know too much about Pushead and his record label, but I do know that he released some of THE most beautifully packaged records I have ever seen. Whilst I may not be too bothered about some of the bands he released, the collector in me kinda wants to pick up as many of his releases as I possibly can just because they looks so damn impressive. denimdemonjimmy must have collected a lot of these things, but is now letting some go, including The Rocket From The Crypt ‘Rocket Pack’. I’d not heard of this before as I’m not really a RFTC fan, but I have to concur it looks great, and clearly there are going to be a lot of people who want this BADLY given that it is numbered out of only 75 copies. This looks like it could go for more than the gold FP 7″ to me. Anyone want to bet on how much this will end up at? Clue – The last one on popsike went in 2010 for over $1200.

Integrity’s 1st, 2nd or 3rd best record on red

There isn’t much new or exciting I can say about this one. Depending on your opinion, this is going to be 1st, 2nd or 3rd in your Integrity top 3 list. If you still need a red vinyl copy, this copy being sold by steveggs looks like a good one to grab, as it also includes the little booklet of spelling mistakes that only the first copies came with, as well as a large fold out poster.

Need So Much Attention

You’d think that if you were going to sell a record this rare and ask that much money for it, you would at least take a half decent photo and write a half decent description. suicideking_13 isn’t going to waste time on that though. He probably figures this thing will just sell itself. No sign of a bid yet though with 8 hours to go. Will his laziness backfire? Will be interesting to see how this one ends.

Baroness Red Album test pressing

The first time i heard The Red Album I wasn’t sure what to think. It kind of annoyed me, i felt like the songs were boring and went on too long. Shawn and George used to play this all the time on Blacklisted tours. Like every day. After a while it started to grow on me. The same cant be said for Torche though after hearing that every day too.
Anyway we got to play with these guys once in Boise Idaho randomly right after this came out and it was one of the most intense 45 minutes of riffage I’ve ever seen. It reminded me of watching Graham from Annihilation Time play, just riffs from another planet.
_fate_just_missed has the test pressing of The Red Album, which only 7 were made of. Its the Hyperrealist pressing which pre-dates the Relapse Pressing

He also has up the first pressing on Hyperrealist on double red vinyl. Its still sealed which while cool doesn’t show off the awesome laser etchings around the edges of the vinyl.

Get It Quick!

While some people love this Pushead cover I never really cared for it.   Compared to the cover of The Kids Will Have Their Say its really nothing much to look at.    I feel like Pushead phoned this one in much like the cover of St Anger.   The reverse holds true of the vinyl though.   One of the best pieces of Boston sXe ever layed to vinyl.   Seller vinyljunkie1620 is offering a copy thats in great shape at a still affordable price, though its ending pretty soon.   If you for some reason are an edgeman without this record you need to do yourself a favor and pick this up,  and its a copy still in its home state.  Buy local.

The lyric sheet is cool as fuck though!

The Damage Of Days.

Couple more records from seller thedanceofdays, and both of these are great ones. Alas, both have some minor sleeve damage at the top edges…

For better pics of the damage, check out the auctions; he’s got everything well documented with close ups.

SSD GIA BIN

One more BIN from krypt-of-cool

I haven’t been in search of a copy of this LP in ages, so I’m not sure if $100 is a “good” price or not, but the free shipping is a nice incentive and perhaps you could combine a couple issues of Nude Rebels or Ass Backwards to your purchase to get your money’s worth.

Comps From Zero.Street.

Yesterday was when I first started seeing auctions pop up from zero.street, including the ones for the two Pushead related comps shown below. I uploaded those and a couple others from his 2 pages of auctions to do posts on, then went on my merry way. About 6 hours later, while browsing around eBay for more stuff to post, I spotted another comp of interest, this one the Life Is Ugly… comp, which features among others the Descendents and the Minutemen. Wondering how I’d missed it before, I clicked view other auctions, and low and behold the number of auctions had skyrocketed, with the number of pages tripling to 6 in as many hours! So expect lots of goodies this week, as there’s tons of awesome records, all with ten day auctions, which gives us plenty of time to show them off to you.

Vinyl Swag.

Another one from state-children, and while I still haven’t gotten around to listening to Septic Death (I know, I know) man do I love Pushead’s art work. And this auction for the Daymare/Crocodile Tears double single is full of it.

All that plus green and yellow vinyl, and a signed, hand numbered sleeve (out of 100). To borrow a phrase from used over at TTD… SWAG.

Pusmort sampler

A classic from xcactusdavex

I remember when I first got into record collecting, anything Pushead related was next to impossible to get your hands on. This comp, and the first two Septic Death 7″s were early top wants of mine, and I probably ended up trading away some cool records to get them. These days you can find them all over the place on ebay, and it seems like they’ve lost their charm a little. This is still a great comp though, with some of the best thrash hardcore bands of the day, and this was also my introduction to Japanese hardcore (via the Outo and SOB tracks on the flexi).

Hardcore wrapping paper

In my endless quest for hardcore paper goods, I came across some cool posters from a couple of different sellers…

vlad65 has a ton of cool stuff up, including these two. Token Entry has always been a favorite band of mine, and this poster has always been a favorite too. Ernie’s artwork is great. Half-Off on the other hand, kind of suck imo. The LP haven’t aged too well to these ears, but none the less I think this poster is pretty cool looking.

kunalukoaku out on Hawaii also has some cool paper goods up, including what I think is one of the best looking punk/hc promo posters of all time (the Black Flag one.) I think there was something with this particular Pushead poster about it being a misprinted Zorlac piece (note the giant empty space), but I don’t recall the exact story. Very cool none the less.

Hyperstoic

Seller sinbar has some nice Pushead stuff, including four of the five Hyperstoic booklets. Pushead released these over the past 15 or so years, as installments of different phases of his fan club, leaking out one every few years. The first one is extremely limited (400 copies), the rest are roughly 1000 each. My personal favorite is #3, as it has some SICK Japanese artists as well as Pushead’s own work. But with all of them, I think it’s cool to see a lot of his album cover drawings without any color or obtrusive band logos, which makes me appreciate the art more.
