Growing Stronger Clear

sector.7g has what is, I think, the second rarest version of what is definitely the best or second best straight edge compilation 7″ of the late 90s, the ‘Growing Stronger’ comp. This version is clear vinyl #/100. Released by In My Blood & Teamwork Records, this features Ensign, Rain On The Parade, Pushed Too Far, Atari, Floorpunch & 97A. Looks and sounds great. And at only $6.53 with 8 hours left, you have no excuse.

Growing Stronger Compilation in Red, Yellow and Blue

With seller earwax666hotmail and xdiscontentx auction’s you can knock out a good chunk of the pressing of the Growing Stronger Compilation by Teamwork Records and In My Blood Records. The first press of the Growing Stronger comp came with red lettering and had a bunch of weird versions and clear and red colored vinyl.  The second pressing had blue lettering, I’m pretty sure there was colored vinyl for this one as well.  And lastly, the 3rd pressing has yellow lettering with black vinyl.  So hit the auction and get 1st, 2nd and 3rd pressing of this record.  Or just pick up one. The insert for this is worth the $$$.

Tracklisting is as follows, if you are not familiar.

1. Ensign – Hold
2. Rain On The Parade – Class Of 89
3. Pushed Too Far – Parting Ways
4. Atari – Times Together
5. Floorpunch – Floorpunch
6. 97a – Growing Stronger

Great songs on this compilation and a little something for everyone, if you like Youth Crew Revival. Look at his ad. A Classic in the making in 97, this was in the Hardware zine (correct me if I’m wrong).

As for the records; here they are.

The Red Truth

After seeing this red vinyl Half Off LP that infernopunx is selling, I thought I would check to see what Flex discography says about it. I’ve heard over the years that there were only 100 on red, so just thought I would check to see what Flex said. The result I found kinda funny…

Approx. 10.000 made altogether. #1 – Black vinyl, 150 on red vinyl. + poster insert. #2 – Black vinyl, blue lettering on cover. + lyric sheet. A few copies were mispressed with the PHC LP tracks, although cover & labels say Half Off. Pre-Haywire. Hardcore in the straight edge/NYHC vein; solid powerful stuff, but too many songs are clichéd and ultimately kind of boring. This album had an inexplicable popularity in the late 80s, maybe it hit a nerve back then. Not a bad record, but pretty uninventive.

This was released by New Beginning Records, probably best known for putting out the Crippled Youth and Underdog 7″s. I also THINK that the band Rain On The Parade took their name from a song on this album, but I don’t know that for sure, I’m just speculating.

What’s a Redcheeks?

I am sure when this record came out, if anyone from outside the Philly / NJ got one of these records, they would ask themselves, “What the fuck is a Robby Redcheeks? Seller coldstares is from Doylestown, PA, so there’s a good chance he knows. To the uninitiated, Robby Redcheeks is a Philadelphia area Jack of all Trades. He put on a ton of awesome shows in the 90′s in Philly, he fronted the band Damage (and it’s sequel, Damage II,) he started up Dead By 23 records in the 00′s which took the idea of “limited editions” and went completely hogwild with it, creating so many different versions of his releases it drove kids mad.

I wonder if this is the first limited edition record he made. I can’t remember precisely, as the Ink & Dagger 7″ came out around the same time, and he made some limited covers for that as well. Maybe you are asking yourself now, “Why did people just let him make his own covers?” Who the hell knows. Robby’s a cool dude. Maybe that’s why? I had one of these once, mine had a cut out picture of a dialer on the back. What’s that? What’s a dialer you ask? Oh, you kids today, you have it so easy. Back in the day, if we wanted to talk to someone far away, and were too cheap to pay the incredibly expensive long distance rates, we would get these hacked phone autodialers, and use them to fool pay phones into thinking we were putting quarters in them. And where would we get these dialers? From crafty skatchy dudes like Robby. For $50 you could have unlimited phone calls to all your friends all over the world! Of course, we had to stand outside at payphones to do this, but that didn’t stop us! Well, that was a tangent.

Did I mention yet that Robby was neither in Rain On The Parade, nor did he actually put the record out? Nope. Matt Smith, ROTP’s bass player put this out (he went on to be Terror’s first bassist, now he restores old British motorcycles) on his label Contention, his zine is also included with this. So what about what is written on this copy? BTT? Well, BTT is of course a very serious, and violent gang who just happens to take their name from a delicious seasonal pastry, the Tastykake Bunny Trail Treat.

There’s a little over a day left on this auction, and it’s already at $30, so I think there’s a little more room there before it maxes out. There were only 25 made, and this is a completely different cover than the standard pressing.

The Demo Noizes Of Jeffrey Pelly, Volume 1.

Does every one know jeffpelly? No? Well, I don’t know him myself, so I can’t do proper introductions, but what I can do is unleash a trio of Demo Noize posts showcasing the demo collection he’s auctioning off. I even did my best to divide it up among probable lines of interest. First off, we have the late 90s Youth Crew hardcore revival section…

Hit us back in a couple hours for Volume 2!

ROTP.

Been a lot of Rain on the Parade action going on lately. I’m kind of surprised, I had sort of thought people had forgotten all about that band. But their first two records have been selling for decent amounts, and there are more ROTP ep’s on eBay right now than I can ever remember seeing at any time before this. Seller yo_baby_sup is especially flush, as he has virtually every pressing ever up for auction. This is just a few of what he’s got going…

Another Test Press Thursday.

Doesn’t it figure, the week that I skip most of Test Press Tuesday in order to focus on getting artwork done turns out to be the week that we get bombarded with worthwhile test presses. Thankfully, the Saxons saw fit to give two days of the week names that lend themselves to my beloved alliteration, allowing me to post up these auctions belonging to xguerillawarfarex as part of the make up day known as Test Press Thursday…

Test Press Tuesday Begins Early.

It’s officially Test Press Tuesday here in NYC, and I’m putting up these three tests from pissedcrappykids immediately, because they’ll all be over by the time most everyone on this coast wakes up and gets into work to look on their computer. So if you’re a night owl or in a time zone where it’s still Monday, hey, this is all you.

When It Rains It Pours.

Porter is back with more records for sale via xbestoneyetx, and since we brought you str8t8′s Rain On The Parade auctions yesterday, figured we’d start today off with Porter’s.

Haven’t had the chance yet to give ROTP a listen for the first time in I don’t know how many years after mentioning wanting to do so yesterday, but I’ll get to it.

Rain On Test Press Tuesday.

Nice to hear from str8t8 again, though I don’t know how he’s gonna meet his goal of also getting listed on TTD and Absurd Noize if he keeps sticking with his vinyl. Not that I’m complaining mind you, because he once again has a bunch of good stuff up, including one that’s perfect for Test Press Tuesday:

I really loved this record at the time (I didn’t have my own copy, but DFJ had a record player with a cassette deck, so he put it on tape for me when it came out and walked around my campus just rewinding it over and over), but I’m not so sure it held up as well as it could have. If it had been put out with the rejected cover he includes with test press, I don’t think I’d even be considering re-listening to it to see if it held up, quite frankly. The actual cover pretty much just screams hardcore, and when I look at it, it makes me want to put the record on and see if I still want to sing along and stage dive to it; a race car driver… not so much.

It’s A New Year…

I would have rather done a TTD post about the shirt that had the oh so appropriate for the holiday lyrics to Resolution on the back, but ROTP merch isn’t exactly in high demand. I used to love that shirt, and I had a great pic of Damian jumping sky high while wearing it that I took at the IME/The Trust show BTrust put on in our hometown way back when. But like I said, there aren’t any to be found on eBay right now, so I settled for recordgraveyard’s over priced clear vinyl copy of the ep the song came from…

What Year Is It?

I like Rain On The Parade.

I’m not going to lie.

But as much as I like ROTP, I’m not paying $250 for a ROTP test press.

I know they WERE big, but I don’t know if they are still THAT big. Does anyone think they are that big?

Limited to 24, this one is #9. Youngblood Records fans unite. Shoot out to Sean Youngblood.
