Give – Heaven Is Waiting

It makes sense that Give is from Washington DC. If you didn’t know any better, you’d think they were a band that released an album on Dischord in the late 80s / early 90s. The vibe is there. Go ahead and grab these EPs from life_as_one. The yellow is limited to 200, the blue is limited to 300 (and is still available from React Records). Get into it.

React Records Boxset #1 Of 6

Fucking Aram. Just when you think you’ve seen every React Records release out there, he drops another one on you. You all recall the React Records boxset. It was limited to 100 (or so, as I recall) and was fucking cool. But each record was on black vinyl. Apparently Aram put together 6, that’s right SIX, on color vinyl. This is #1 of 6. I smell a fight brewing on this one.

Each sale goes towards putting out more records on React Records so don’t worry about digging deep.

Test Press Thursday is Canadian For Test Press Tuesday

I’m a big fan of xuttermoshx but doesn’t he know the difference between Tuesdays and Thursdays? I’d guess not, otherwise he would have put all of these test presses up earlier. It’s all good. Most of them you will recognize and drool over. React Records at their best. Aram is selling these to support the label and put out more releases. I can back that. Go ahead and grab these, and when you win them, remind Aram that Tuesday is not Thursday.

Definitely check the other auctions too, as Aram listed over 30 gems from the React Records vault. Some choice platters here.

React Records Boxset

Here’s the thing with React Records: a record release is never just a record release. It’s an event. It comes with bells, whistles and streamers. Aram is king of presentation and packaging. Take this React Records box from everyonerage26 for example. Posters, screened box, prints, stickers, stamps, … and of course, records. The only thing missing is a kitchen sink and a hemp patch (not really). Aram does it right, and we’re fans. Head over to the React Records site and pick up some merch. Support a good dude with great bands.

Screaming Gets You Nothing … But Big Lots

Big fan of this guys ebay name, screaminggetsyounothing. Good nod to American Nightmare. I’m not positive, but I figure I must know this individual. Somerville, Mass; lots and lots of positive feedback (1676); plenty of decent records. I figure, I gotta know this person. They are unloading some GIANT lots currently. And it isn’t just vinyl. ComicNoize.com fans would appreciate the big comic lots too. You’d think this seller was a Noize Corp employee based on their auctions … Who is this mystery person??

Lots of hidden gems in this lot (American Nightmare, Betrayed, …). Check it.

Four ON lps? Yes, thank you.

And grab the Euro LP number 4/150 too.

And a few B9 goodies? I’ll take that Have Heart, thank you.

If you know the seller, hit us up. I’m super curious. I have a guess, but am still waiting it out.

React Records: The Big Guns

Oh boy. Aram told me to keep an eye on ebay as he was preparing to drop some heavy hitters. For those who don’t know, Aram runs React Records! and is an all around good dude. Cooch posted up the MAJOR bomb earlier today, and you would think that would outshine the rest. Not so, I say. Aram brought out plenty of big guns. LOTS of awesome test presses from React. Check em.

Praise. Growing.Changing.Healing, out of 24.

Mindset. I love Mindset. Shout outs to Mike, Ev and the whole crew. Time & Pressure. Out of 24.

Damages. Unrequited REJECTED test press. Very nice. Out of 24.

Damages. Accepted test press. Out of 24. Notice a pattern here?

Common Cause. Statement of Purpose LP. Out of 24.

Get The Most. Together test press. Out of 24. Of course.

If you are a React Records completist, Aram just made your day. And of course, all these record sales go back into funding React Records. Hook it up.

Hardcore For Education

The Hardcore For Education auctions are finally online, and damn, it was worth the wait (at least from a record collector standpoint). Loads of gems up from goldenempirepto, and every cent (minus ebay fees and the like) goes DIRECTLY back into the school for the kids. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, head on over to Help Golden Empire to read their back story.

The list of contributors is great: React Records, Revelation Records, Smorgasbord Records, … Great crew. So run out, spend a lot on these. And don’t worry, just remember, every penny you spend is going to kids. That may help ease your conscious (but not your bank account or wallet).

Ink And Dagger test press. Heard they were hot at This Is Hardcore.

Common Cause. So good. Great LP.

Up Front Changes EP. Classic style, yo.Daniel Treffry approved!

Praise. I have my eye on this one. Such a great EP. Stand back!

So head over there now and get bidding. Seriously, it’s for the kids. Continue reading »

Stay Gold

Stay Gold was a smooth hardcore band from Northwest US, mostly Seattle. They began when hardcore was in a full revival swing, 98 or 99. These were the years of Floorpunch, Reach The Sky, In My Eyes, Kid Dynamite, Saves The Day … Hardcore was back and was really taking names.

They released a few albums on smaller labels (like Aram’s Anchor Records, pre React Records!). And ended up signing to Indecision Records to sell a few EPs and LPs. They did some big tours, but at least on the east coast, they never got the fanfare they deserved. Oh sure, the Tanguays moshed like crazy bastards (or at least Kyle did), but for the most part, it felt like they slipped unnoticed through the east coast. I’m sure it was an all together different story in Seattle and Portland.

Also, lets not forget that one of the dudes in the band is named Eagle Barber. Great name. And a pretty chill dude too. He hooked me up with a big box of tees a while back for a VERY reasonable price. Big fan.

First up, their first release on Anchor Records. Later Anchor Records would release EPs from What Feeds The Fire and almost Verse. Then Aram got super busy touring the world 600 times over with Champion and had to put record labels on the back burner for a bit. But this Stay Gold EP is a fave. This is the regular release.

This is the same EP but with the limited edition record release cover. Limited to 75. Aram is obviously good with packaging, always has been. This one comes with an acetate sleeve AND a vellum sleeve. Clear vinyl too!

Up next is the Caught Up In The Moment EP from Indecision Records. This one dropped in 2001 and was really when Stay Gold seemed to shine. This was the record that kids really wanted. Sadly, most of those kids wanted the record in 2006, instead of when it originally dropped in 2001. Like Van Gogh, they seemed to have got more popular post break up.

If you never got down with Stay Gold, I suggest picking these up. They are worth the listen. Continue reading »
