Dead End Path Record Release

WAY back in August of 2011, yeah, a million years ago, Dead End Path had a record release gig for Blind Faith. I’m into this album, and the dudes are awesome. I can’t believe how cheap this one from incredibissell still is with less than a day to go. I’m getting my bid in as I don’t own this one yet.

This Is Just a Life: Rotting Out

Lately, I’ve really been psyched on Southern California hardcore. Not sure why. Maybe it was meeting lots of those dudes during Sound And Fury. Or maybe it’s the fact that the scene is taking over. Just straight up eclipsing lots of other scenes. So many great bands lately: Soul Search, New Brigade (fuck yes), … and of course Rotting Out. So stoked on Street Prowl (go order it now). And hearing about a European tour with Bane is icing on the cake. Get stoked. Grab this record release ep from quit_everything.

Joyce Manor Record Release

I live on the East Coast but love this West Coast band. Of course, I wasn’t able to attend the record release. Tough shit, right? Joyce Manor, Touche Amore, Low Places, Deafheaven and Dynasty. Sounds like one hell of a gigger. Watch for yourself, it WAS one hell of a gig.

Now, I made sure to grab the pink and orange vinyl, but I am missing the record release version. I could pop this BIN from seacow_hunter99sk (I think Emil would agree, terrible seller name), but I have an ace. This record was released on 6131 Records by my good friend Joey. A while back, we hooked up a pretty sweet trade, and he was kind enough to throw one of these in. Now, I just have to wait for it to arrive. It’ll be worth the wait.

Record Release: MOM

I don’t know who ijustwantalifeasone is, but he/she has some sick Mother Of Mercy records. Originally, this post started out as a nod to the III & IV record release covers, but then more auctions kept popping up. Lots of record release covers. I listened to III while at the gym this morning. I think it helped me up my cable crossovers. Feeling it.

These aren’t record release covers, but they are worth mentioning due to their rare factor.

Ceremony Rohnert Park Record Release Caricatures

I don’t know about you, but I love this album cover. Great concept for a record release. Hopefully they got this drawn up at the piers in San Fran or maybe on Sunset Blvd. Grab this LP from lebum. It’s #66/99. Not too shabby. I’m not sure how, but these dudes seemed to have THREE record release gigs. Where’s Rock City? Grab the rest of your merch needs over on the B9store. Word.

Dead End Path – Death Walks Beside Us

Maybe you caught my shout out to Dead End Path (and my hatred of size small tshirts) over on TTD. True story. Big fan. I’m DYING for this Wilkes-Barre group to release the new LP they are working on. It seems like I’m dying for a lots of new music from Wilkes-Barre right now. Not a coincidence. WB is killing it with music. So go ahead and grab these eps from icegrillz05 (who is also in a prominent WB band).

Record release cover. Out  of 50 (or sort of, click the image for the full details). SHARP!

Sound And Fury cover! Out of 35. Double dope.

Mental Record Releases

I’m on a bit of a Mental kick lately, but can you blame me? These two eps were some of the best coming out of Boston in the mid aughts. And since sixfeetunderrecords has the goods, I’m going to show them to you.

Get An Oxygen Tank Record Release. Cover by our boy JayBil. You’ve seen this design on two tshirts too. One of my faves. This one was released on Bridge 9.

And You Know This Man! Straight out of Lockin Out Records. As I recall, the covers were spraypainted on the way to the gig, making the van stink like spraypaint fumes. But again, my memory is mush so I could be confusing a few different releases. I’m 90% certain that Dookie was the man behind the spraypaint. That I think I remember correctly.

Watch this video. You’ll know what I’m talking about.

In My Eyes – Memories

We all love In My Eyes, but I think we can all agree, the live EP is sort of crap. I’m not sure what happened with it, but it sounds like it was recorded through a boom box, than transferred from one boombox facing another and then onto dat. No idea. But the demo EP is AWESOME. And this one from sugarhiccups is great. This one is the pre-order version with the extra sleeve. It’s also numbered. Not sure that isn’t mentioned in the auction …

As for memories, watch this news clip. I always forget about this one. Some great moments. I think I spot me in there … Plus a lot of other great friends. Good times.

Rain On Test Press Tuesday.

Nice to hear from str8t8 again, though I don’t know how he’s gonna meet his goal of also getting listed on TTD and Absurd Noize if he keeps sticking with his vinyl. Not that I’m complaining mind you, because he once again has a bunch of good stuff up, including one that’s perfect for Test Press Tuesday:

I really loved this record at the time (I didn’t have my own copy, but DFJ had a record player with a cassette deck, so he put it on tape for me when it came out and walked around my campus just rewinding it over and over), but I’m not so sure it held up as well as it could have. If it had been put out with the rejected cover he includes with test press, I don’t think I’d even be considering re-listening to it to see if it held up, quite frankly. The actual cover pretty much just screams hardcore, and when I look at it, it makes me want to put the record on and see if I still want to sing along and stage dive to it; a race car driver… not so much.

Disengage Record Release

Big fan of Disengage. Another great act out of Wilkes-Barre. This record from zwuerthner is the record release (august 22, 2010) version, limited to 38. This one is #8.

Shout outs to Gil and Ned. Mosh. Makes me regret trading my Disengage shirt. Ugh.

There’s Always One.

Taking a quick break from Test Press Tuesday to show this one from jrohara, who got home from the Mother of Mercy record release show this past Sunday and promptly tossed this up on the ‘bay. There’s always one. I’m not actually posting this up to bust his balls tho…

…I’m posting it up because I want to shout out Bob and the rest of the band for their unique record release cover: a t-shirt sewn into an lp sleeve. I don’t know who came up with it, but it’s GENIUS. Gentlemen (and the lady who I assume stitched these up for you), I salute you.

DRUG UP – GUN TEST

tyxcobb has a few records up including these two that I wouldnt mind owning!

Just any ordinary Drug Test – Needle in the Neck 7″ is a pretty cool record, but this is the special ‘record release’ version from the 2004 record release show. Its a special sleeve and numbered #47 out of 100.

GUNS UP – Game Over 7″ on blue vinyl from the Rocket Punch Records 2003 tour press. The sleeve on this one is awesome! Its a rip off of issue #21 of the original GI Joe comic with Snake Eyes on the cover. The best thing about this comic is that it was a ‘Silent Issue’. There was no text at all, it was just a dramatic meeting of Snake Eyes and Stormshadow. So awesome! Ok… back to the 7″, this is # 15 out of only 90 and its pretty damn cool!

The Effort

Looking to fill your collection of The Effort EPs? trusty_chords has your back. He’s got a friend’s back too. He’s selling these EPs for his friend so that said friend can purchase a guitar. This sounds like a pretty good reason to me. Support the band, support the kids. I slept on The Effort for a bit, but I saw them at Welfare Records one day, and they really impressed. I don’t feel like I’ve seen them around lately, but if you are in Europe, they are headed your way soon. Enjoy. Make sure to pick up these EPs, you probably won’t see these test presses up again soon. Good stuff.

Boston Straight Edge, Still On Top

These albums from alexisthereason2010 may go back a few years now, but Boston Straight Edge is still king. Take Pat Flynn for example. Stand up dude. After the record release gig, we were all hanging outside the ICC, shooting the shit. He was holding one of these LPs and just gave it to me. Straight up, stuck it out and gave it to me. He then thanked me for giving them a chance by hosting their site back in the day. I really appreciated that. HYE was always a hobby and those dudes were always WAY too big for it. But it was cool that he recalled that and hooked me up. I was into it. As for Joey C. Nuff said. If I had Doug Free’s scanner, I would scan a few gems.

Someone remind me what day the Have Heart record release gig was and who played, please. My memory has fogged it over.
