Jeff Press Tuesday: Bottled Up Records

Lets kick off Test Press Tuesday with two from starttodayfanzine. You may know him as Mr Bottled Up Records. Or just Jeff. I’d go with Jeff, if I were you. He isn’t a stickler for prim and proper titles. Both of these test presses come from his label. And they’re good ones.

First up is Outlast. New Jersey Straight Edge. New Jersey. And Straight Edge. Need I say more? Think Turning Point more than Tear It Up. And if you are a small dude, go ahead and grab some tees. That longsleeve looks dope.

And then there is Right Idea. With cover art by a regular commenter around here, Jay (more from him later …). Big fan of Right Idea. Hate lurking ebay for their merch though. It’s nearly impossible to narrow down a good search. OUR WORLD! Cleveland Straight Edge. Moshing.

Doug – We Will Bury You

Do you read the blog We Will Bury You? If not, you should. Doug has a cool point of view and breaks down a lot of his records and purchases. He goes deep into each records, and for the nerd, he goes overboard on pictures. Some great stuff. Marcus and him always seem to be in competition. Not really, but sort of. This time around, instead of bringing vinyl in, buckywunderlick is unloading some choice platters. Go ahead and scoop a few. He needs loot for Chaos In Tejas. Hook it up!

The First Test.

Ok, so this test pressing that starttodayfanzine is selling isn’t the a test pressing for The First Step’s first record, but I think we all know by now that I just can’t resist a bad pun…

Here’s a couple other versions, just for kicks.

In case you haven’t figured it out by now, the seller is also the brains behind Bottled Up Records, who put out not only these records, but the Have Heart 2003 Demo 7 inches he’s selling that I posted the other day. Hence why he also has this Right Idea test press that I’m throwing up as a bonus for putting up with my bad puns:

Right Idea

I don’t know who csunate is, but dude is bringing some fire. If I didn’t know Jay Jacoby’s ebay name, I would think it was him. Then I’d remember he would NEVER unload his Right Idea gear.

What we have here are TWO different rejected test presses. That’s right. TWO rejected test presses. You can imagine getting the Right Idea lp pressed was something of a headache. If you pre-ordered, I’m sure you recall that headache. Thankfully, Aram kept all of us up to date on the trials and tribulations of this lp.

The final product is ill. And that’s what counts.

Also, lets talk about Jeff Hess’s collection. Dude collects Varsity Jackets. How cool is that? I gotta step up my game there. I don’t mind an old hand me down varsity jacket. Good look. Hard to compete with a dude who has the OG Smorgasbord Jacket and that Youth Of Today – Free At Last jacket. Real, real hard.
