The Who vs. Cyanide

Everybody knows The Who. It’s a mind boggler though why Cyanide never got the recognition they deserved. In my opinion they were just as good as any of their contemporaries yet not all that many people know about them. They don’t even have their wikipedia page. In 2012 everything has their wiki page.
The first Cyanide release was a single with their take on The Who’s classic that for some 12 years prior was all over the UK music charts.
j.piero here has the French version of the single that comes with a different cover design to the UK version. I like both covers equally but this one seems to be rarer and more sought after than the UK one.

If you are not a fan of fiddling with the classics why not pick up the 1966 original from enthucol

One Hit Wonder…

Blue Cheer was a psychadelic rock band based out of San Francisco in the mid 1960′s. They were active on and off from 1966 all the way to 2009 and released 11 albums, 7 live records, apeared on a bunch of compilations and were even the subject of a tribute record but more often then not they are considered to be a one hit wonder.

It was 1967′s Vincebus Eruptum that featured their ultra heavy psychadelic version of ‘Summertime Blues’ that made their biggest mark and it was all down hill from there.

They are an often overlooked band from that genre and a lot of people that enjoy Cream, Iron Butterfly & The Who even overlook them. I totally recomend you check out Vincebus Eruptum and then decide if you want to check out anything further because if nothing else this record is worth a listen!!
