Remember Record Store Day: Touche Amore

Remember Record Store Day? It wasn’t that long ago. It’s a pretty cool day. People all over the globe anticipate it like it was Christmas. This year, most people seemed to anticipate the day AFTER record store day even more. So much flipping occurred this year. It was CRAZY. This Touche Amore record is one that plenty of people wanted. Limited to 250. And the release to record stores went funky. Something happened where they were pressed too late or something, and they couldn’t be distributed in time to record stores. Instead, people, like the seller the_jakeless, had to park in front of their computers at 11am EST to fight through the throngs on the hellfish site. If you got one, you were one of the lucky ones. Fast forward 7 months, and it’s available in this auction. I suspect prices won’t be as insane as the first week, but this will still get up there. Good luck.

And My Back Is Sore

The day has barely begun, and I already feel wiped. This weekend has been one long BBQ. And that’s something I love. Lots of good friends, good food and good times. No complaints about that, but now, now I’m feeling pretty roughed up. I’ll be hitting up another BBQ this afternoon so I better get into it. Watch this Balance & Composure video. These guys know what I’m talking about.

There were 50 Record Store Day records made up. Two are available on ebay now. That’s 4% of the total. What’s wrong with everything?

RSD: Winners & Losers

Looks like zwuerthner is pulling together some scratch for the big upcoming fests of the year. I already saw him at United Blood spending all his hard earned cash on gear he loves, and now he’s got some RSD records up in order to pay for the next fest’s merch haul. Sadly, he’s got winners and losers.

First up, the loser. Elliot Us Songs. I’m not saying the album is a loser, I’m saying this auction will be. Yeah, Rev HQ just listed a slew of color vinyl. Yes, this record, this press.

Luckily, he’s got this limited to 50 Pulling Teeth LP. This one is funny. It was a release by Celebrated Summers Records / Store. And the crazy thing? The LP labels are solid. There is no hole in the middle. To play the LP, you have to bust the label. Pretty cool. I expect this one to fly up there.

RSD: Good Morning, Flippers

First off, happy Record Store Day! It’s a good one, for sure. Lots of great Rev releases, Rival Schools, Sonic Youth, … some gems. And of course, happy Flipping Day! It’s already begun. The east coast is barely 4 hours into RSD, but it’s already begun. You can thank xbestoneyetx and zork1212 for the first ups today (first EST ups, there’s already a few up in the UK).

Pale yellow or dark yellow? I’m guessing dark yellow. The pale is pretty pale. Update: Someone hit that $30 BIN, grab this one instead.

Weird. I haven’t found the Elliot EP yet. Hmmm.

4444dan4444 is selling another Record Store Day gem I picked up last year on RSD. Actually this one was on my list for Newbury Comics and my girlfriend went there because they were getting in the Sick of it All 7″, but not the Beastie Boys 12″ so I went to Time Capsule comics/records in Seekonk for the BB while my GF went to Newbury for SOIA. Got all that!?

Ok… so this is a small box set of 3 John Lennon 7″s with original artwork, 3 post cards, a big poster and a special 45 adapter so you can play the big hole 7″s on your turntable. Its limited to 7000 which isnt to bad for something Beatle related. It looks like they usually sell for $30-$40 so shoot the guy a ‘best offer’ if youre interested!

Stumbling on Great Stuff

Over the long weekend, I passed through Maine. While walking around the Old Port, I took a few minutes to step into Bull Moose. Now, you should know, I haven’t purchased vinyl from a physical store in a real long LONG time (excepting the RSD 2010 SOIA ep for friends or family). I just haven’t been motivated to build up my vinyl collection. For the most part, I’m busy unloading it. But I stepped in to see what I could find. First off, I found a shit ton of RSD EP vinyl. Like A LOT. It was semi staggering how much they still had. Sadly, no SOIA EP, of course. But I came across a Have Heart Songs To the Scream At The Sun on blue vinyl. Very odd. This record has been out for YEARS now. How was it still languishing in a record store bin? So weird.
