Double dose of Anarchy

Tre thinks the Sex Pistols suck. Im pretty sure he is wrong. Any band with records this expensive can’t suck right? I offer as an example these two rarities. A german Anarchy In The UK p/s isnt THAT hard to find if you really want one, but try finding one in this good shape without writing or promo stamps on it. incorrectthoughts has one, and honestly Im thinking about bidding myself because this is my favorite p/s of any Pistols 7″ and its pretty cheap right now.

Now this one I’ve never seen. How many punks do you think there were in New Zealand in 1976? 5? 6? Well thats probably how many of these records still exist.
colombo-kid is from Christchurch which means this record just survived an earthquake too.

A potential H Bomb

Have you ever wanted to just sell your whole collection so you can buy just one record? Maybe the most expensive punk record ever? God Save The Queen on A&M is the record for you. I’ve seen this pop up alot over the years. More than you would think for a record that theres only about 25 of. Must be too hot to handle. alienrecordstore has the only copy I have ever seen still in the company box though. Im not sure if thats going to make it fetch more than usual but who knows.

You should know the story with this, this single was pressed and right before its release the Sex Pistols blew up in the media for cursing on national tv and got dropped by A&M. All the copies of the record were destroyed as a result (except for one box given to A&M executives in the 90s, and one box that Steve Jones stole from the label).

Sex Pistols Russia Секс Пистолс

There was a time in the USSR, before 1985 or so, when owning, or even worse, distributing this LP could land you in jail. By the late 80′s the Wall came down and things lightened up a bit. The youth demanded music! The seller doesn’t give much info and I am actually not sure what label released this in Russia or when it was released (guessing early 1990′s), but I think it’s pretty cool. They even did some creative translating of the title.

I see ashadey only has Sex Pistols auctions, they are definitely a band with many maniacal superfans. I knew a girl in high school that was obsessed with Sid Vicious and had her whole locker, notebook and a huge collage plastered with his pictures that she made for art class or something. Yeaah, Anarchy.

The Light of Day

Remember that movie ‘The Light of Day’ with Michael J. Fox and Joan Jett in it? I haven’t seen it in years so I dont know if it held up or not, but I remember it being a pretty good movie! Plus it had a bunch of other cool people in it…. the guy who played David St. Hubbins from Spinal Tap, Trent Reznor from NIN, the woman who played the president on 24, Mr. Svenning from Mallrats, the guy who played the caterer in Father of the Bride AND the Fabulous Thunderbirds!

The movie ‘The Legend of Billie Jean’ was pretty good too, but that has way more to do with Pat Benatar than Joan Jett.

Well if you’re a fan of Joan Jett you can pick up this copy of her first LP self released on ‘Black Heart Records’. The backing band features Paul Cook & Steve Jones so you know its punk!

Signed, Sealed & Sex Pistoled!

I know autographed LPs have been discussed here before and that a lot of people dont like them, but I am a fan. Its geeky and not punk, but I still think its kind of cool to have signatures of the person that created something on it be it a record or a book or something else.

That being said, I’m not so sure about the signed ‘Never Mind the Bollocks’ LP that collie-tree is selling. I am far from an expert on autographs or the Sex Pistols for that matter, but something about these signatures just looks off.

The biggest thing I question is would Sid bother to sign his full name ‘Sid Vicious’ or would he just sign ‘SID’? Also all the signatures look to close to the same in some ways.

Well… like I said, I’m no expert and collie-tree had a lot of other records for sale, but I would say buyer beware on this one even if you try to shoot him a low ball offer.

England’s Dreaming

Got a cool £15k to blow? Might as well spend it on this Sex Pistols acetate if you do… I’m guessing this will never come up for sale again. It’s amazing to me how all of these hopelessly rare records have come out of the woodwork via ebay in the past few years, I can only imagine what else is out there. Curious to see what this ends for — currently at £14,000 with just under four hours to go.

And for those with more refined tastes in $10,000+ vinyl, here’s a nice buy-it-now on an original God Save The Queen on A&M. Crazy to see both of these up at the same time.

Anthrax Oddities…

The heavymetalmerchant is selling a pretty odd Anthrax record that I actually have. Its a 12″ picture disc single of the song ‘Make Me Laugh’ from the ‘State of Euphoria’ record. The picture disc is actually packaged in a clear sleeve with the Anthrax logo printed on it and there is a fold out poster in the sleeve as well. The oddest thing about this record is the b-side which is a cover of the off beat Sex Pistols song ‘Friggin in the Riggin’ from the Great Rock & Roll Swindle.

And vgps is selling an even odder Anthrax item. This is a laser disc version of the Anthrax home video ‘Attack of the Killer Video’. I cant find any info about this. I know there was a DVD called ‘Return of the Killer A’s video collection’, but I dont know what this one is.

These are fucking awesome!!

This auction is for 2 copies of one of the best punk rock records of all time and each one is signed by a different line up of the band.

1st record signed by the original Sex Pistols line up including –
Johnny Rotten
Paul Cook
Steve Jones
Glen Matlock

2nd record is signed by the second, and more recognizable, line up -
Johnny Lydon
Paul Cook
Steve Jones
Sid Vicious

A legit Sid autograph is hard enough to find, but on a Bollocks LP with the other 3 members is amazing!

I BIN is high, but who knows what the guy will take for an offer.. everyone shoot him some lowball offer and lets find out!

God Save The Sex Pistols…

The seller does not offer much info about this record, but does have the correct catalog #. Based on the fact that it has a bid on it I would think that its an original, but no one is going to assume that.

Heres the info about this record from Wikipedia:
Before the group signed to Virgin, a small number of copies of “God Save the Queen” had been pressed on the A&M label. These are now among the most valuable records ever pressed in the UK, with a resale value as of 2006 of between £500 to £13,000 a copy, depending on condition of the disc.[6] The B-side of the A&M single was “No Feeling” (without an s), an early rough mix or performance of “No Feelings.”

and heres some info from the Sex Pistols Discography page:
Despite popular belief, release of ‘GSTQ’ was not pre-planned to coincide with the Queen’s Silver Jubilee celebrations in June. Originally titled ‘No Future’ the track was written in 1976 and would actually have been released in March 1977 had A&M Records not sacked the Pistols after only 10 days. Some advance copies of the A&M single were pressed and are now worth a small fortune.

Public Image Limited

This is an original and a reissue of the 2nd release from Johnny Rottens post Sex Pistols project, Public Image Limited.

‘Metal Box’ was originally released by Virgin Records in November 23rd, 1979 as three 12″ records packaged in a film canister. It was re-released in 1980 as a double LP in a gatefold sleeve under the name ‘Second Edition’. Only 60,000 (50,000 in the UK and 10,000 in the US) of the original ‘Metal Box’ sets were produced.

The second auction is for a sealed copy of the 2006 reissues of ‘Metal Box’. This time Runt Distrobution teamed up with the ’4 Men With Beards’ label and 5000 (all in the US) were produced making it rarer, but not as desirable as the original release.
