Things Paul Bearer has said about me…

I have been a fan of Sheer Terror since the very first time my friend Mike hit play on a cassette copy of ‘Just Cant Hate Enough’ and I heard the imortal words “Ya muthas got aids… this ones called spoiler” and dont even get me started on the whole bit about “squaters rights”!

Over the years I’ve become an even bigger fan of ST and became friends with Paulie though fund raising for Autism Speaks.

Now vinylmanianycpart2 has a great looking copy of ‘Love Songs for the Unloved’ for sale, but I want to take some space to share with you some word for word quotes about things the Reverend Paul Bearer has said about me…

“He’s the only scoundrel that could kill anyone with a beer in his hand and still get a Coors scholarship”

“Joshua Hurst is the Chuck Norris of straight edge”

“You got a friend for life here”

If 15 year old Josh knew he could call the fat guy singing ‘Boys Dont Cry’ in his underwear at Club Baby Head his friend I think he would be pretty damn excited. Thanks Paulie!

Also be sure and check out www.Reaper-Records.com and pre-order the new Sheer Terror 7″ which is amazing!

It Ain’t a Reunion!

Sheer Terror is back and its not a reunion, its a revitalized band thats ready to play and record! It started with a chance to go to Japan and a one off show at This is Hardcore in Philly and the band was so good and Paulie was enjoying it so much that its snowballed into the NYC ‘Homecoming Dance’ and now there are shows scheduled in Boston, Baltimore, Montreal, Toronto, Antwerpen & I think a few others.

They have some pretty cool new merch including a skateboard deck and I heard there are scarfs for the Euro show, but nothing beats a nice slab of vinyl!

Sheer Terror Asshole and Proud 7″ on Gold vinyl and numbered XTRA of 1000 copies.

adambombx79 has a few other auctions up so check them out and combine to save on shipping!

Darkside NYC

Lots of stuff up from 801williamm… not much I’m into, but he does have this gem.

As far as I’m concerned, this is the first and best record to ever mix hardcore and death metal. Alan Blake already nailed the Celtic Frost guitar sound in Sheer Terror, so this record seems like a natural progression from there, and not some bogus chugga chugga metalcore garbage.

Don’t worry about that price tag, a little lighter fluid will have it off in seconds.

One Week Away!

Lissareeder’s lot auctions, including the one for these 2 Sheer Terror records, will be over by the 25th. Which is good, because there’s no way I want to be sitting around watching the minutes count down on auctions on the 28th…

If you live near enough, and you don’t go, you’re a fool. Seriously.

Somebodys getting married… today!

Last saturday I posted an LP of wedding marches because I had a wedding to go to… well this Saturday I have another wedding to go to, but I know the guy getting married this week much better than I knew anyone at last weeks wedding.

My friend Monty, who makes lots of great posts you should check out over at www.GamerNoize.com is getting married and to celebrated it I wanted to post something from one of his favorite bands. In the process of searching I was lucky enough to find this East vs. West comp 7″ being sold by monaghan419.

Not only does it have a Blood for Blood song on it (one of Montys favorite bands), but its also got a track from The Trouble (another of his favorites!). If this thing had Candy Man or Jason Voorhies on the cover I would have to buy it for him becuase it would perfectly fit his personality! The comp also has 2 tracks representing ‘The West’ from Powerhouse & Pressure Point.

Also even though Monty is not a huge fan of Sheer Terror (tsk tsk tsk) I wanted something at least a little symbolic of a wedding for this post so here is an old promo poster for the ‘Old New Borrowed Blue’ album.

thanks for sumpthin’

Paul Bearer and the newley formed Sheer Terror just got back from a triumphant tour of Japan. Paulie said that it was awesome, the opening band ‘Aggressive Dogs’ were awesome, he ate sushi and it was awesome and not to be surprised if he moves to Japan sometime in the future.

I’m not sure if its sold out or not, but Sheer Terror is playing at Webster Hall in NYC on November 28th. Paul dubbed the 2nd to last show ‘the wake’ and the last show ‘the funeral’. The show at This Is Hardcore in Philly was titled ‘the resurection’ and the show November 28th is ‘the homecoming dance’. ST is tigher then they ever have been (no disrespect to past members!) and they are worth seeing!!

Wether you can make it to NYC for the show or not bellyfeller has a collection of 4 CDs that are all must own!

You get…
“Just Can’t Hate Enough”
“Ugly & Proud”
“Thanks Fer Nuthin’”
“Love Songs For The Unloved”

all for one bargain basement price so dont miss out on them!

Philly or Bust!

By the time you’re reading this I will be well in to my road trip Philadelphia to see Sheer Terror one more time with one of my best friends. We saw them back in the early 90′s at Club Baby Head in Providence and at The Edge (back of The Channel) in Boston and we are both psyched to see them again! The cooler will be packed with Mexican Coca-Cola and we will be meeting up with some of the Thorp Warriors who plan to take us out for CheeseSteaks after the show. Huge public thanks to Paulie for hooking up the guest list or I wouldnt have been able to go!

If you can’t get to the show I strongly suggest you pick up this DVD that Thorp Records did back in 2005. Its about 2 hours of ST footage including tons of interviews and old footage in the documentary section as well as 18 songs from their other ‘last show’ on October 10, 2004. It also comes with a CD of most of the live tracks.

also on the off chance that you havent check out Paulies other band Joe Coffee, do your self a favor and get this disc. I will however admit that they are even better live!

I Can’t Stand Living, I Can’t Stand You…

Another one from seller unionpride69, and in this case it’s the original Starving Missle press of Sheer Terror’s debut L.P.

Super psyched to see this band one more time (in case you’ve been under a rock, they’re playing this years This Is Hardcore Fest). I saw both the “Funeral” and the “Wake” shows at CBGB’s (to my chagrin I have to admit that I missed the now infamous kitty litter on the floor show at The Rat), and quite frankly it only served to whet my appetite. And who’s gonna pass up a chance to hear Paul Bearer’s stage banter live one more time?
