A while ago I threatened to start a weekly oi post on Wednesdays, and what better place to start than The Oppressed’s debut single courtesy of creepycrawlerk.
There aren’t too many self released early oi singles out of the UK, and this is definitely one of the best of the crop, though not the rarest (but still pretty hard to get). The title track is as classic as it gets for the genre, and has been covered by the likes of the Templars and the Bruisers.
Trash American Style — always a great source for Rev rarities. I remember passing on a Chung King there once for $125 and a Warzone “aborted” press 7″ for $35 another time (insert picture of me wiping tears away).
I remember seeing the one of these stamped versions about 10 years ago when a copy of this record passed between a couple friends of mine, both of whom were decidedly NOT sxe/Rev/NYHC type collectors (one was big on oi! and the other was big on KBD). Neither of them knew too much about it, and I just thought it looked cool. I still don’t know too much about it, and I still think it looks cool. My friend who ended up on the receiving end was going to trade it to me, but we both kind of forgot about it and then he ended up ebaying it.
