Me and Cooch were chatting it up the other day via AIM and we were talking about the recent comment debacle over the value of a 2nd press SOA – No Policy EP. Through a slew of comments, one of our readers offered the seller at a record fair 150 for the copy of the SOA record. That same exact copy of the record went on ebay and fetched about 350. Since then a clean test press of the No Policy EP popped up that fetched around 675 bucks (I thought it was going to go for more). I’m going to say that the price of this 1st press No Policy EP brought to you by 33eyez will be hitting closer to the price of the test press than the 2nd press, but maybe not as far off from the ending price of the test press as you would think.

Here’s a nice slice of wax from housatonic, aka ex-Meatmen guitarist Lyle Preslar.

Normally I think test press collecting is pretty boring, though I do think it’s cool when they come with proper sleeves and inserts — it makes them slightly more desirable in my book. What’s not cool though (for me anyways) is when my friend scored one of these for $25 off a craigslist ad in Boston a couple years ago. I did nab a Black Market Baby 7″ test press off the same ad though for $10, so all was not lost (read more about that later).

Note: the black vinyl copy I posted a week or two ago ended at $350. Naysayerz be damned (this means you “chris”).

I saw these in person at the WFMU fair last month and I have to say that while these records are second pressings, I would throw down on them without question (if I didn’t have them already), as both are CLEAN AS FUCK — especially the SOA.

Also it’s cool that NA always cited SOA as a major influence, so you can grab one of the best HC 7″s ever and the record behind the record in one fell swoop.

Apparently shermy67 must have realized the extortionate BIN price on this lot was too much, so he broke them down into separate listings. Unfortunately the first press Filler already sold, but you can still buy the Teen Idles and SOA 7″s for relatively high prices ;) .

And Mr. Surf80 has a more moderately (but still kinda high) priced 4th press Filler up, along with some overpriced Misfits singles. Pick your poison.

Coupla BIN’s here, a nice-price Teen Idles from ohisamanoheya and a laughably ridiculous lot from shermy67. The single Teen Idles looks like a pretty good buy though so I don’t see it lasting long.

Distressed Dischord.

Seller xundergroundx has a pair of Dischord classics up for auction: one in great condition, and the other… not so much. Apparently, the seller received it that way after paying for a mint copy, so to say that he was distressed is an understatement…

this angers me OK OK this is dischord records number 6. what sucks about this I got it years ago and the guy who sold me it said it has some ware but its OK. Well he lied lied like a rug! so I paid alot for a little. Im selling this as a place mat record till you find a mint coppy like I did or if you have a record but no sleve or insert. the sleve has some tape on one side. side A. plays with some poping but B. has a scratch thas does effect the play thats why Im angry. Look at it this way its a cool way to get a rare record cheep, or you can fix up an existing record that needs a bit of up grading via sleve and insert.

Probably not the best version you could hope to get your hands on, but how often do these really show up, outside of the super high BIN copies that sit on eBay year round? Someone will go for this one. No doubt in my mind.

Dionysus Records in CA is a pretty cool punk reissue label, and I never realized they had an ebay store. Looks like someone decided they don’t want to collect Dischord singles anymore, so here’s your chance to score 5/6ths of them in one fell swoop.

I heard that last week at Tesco Vee’s Hate Police were playing somewhere in New York and Steve from The Fix was there and the Hate Police did Fix songs with him singing. Also heard it was one of the hardest things ever and that if you missed it you suck royal balls from shitdom, but Paul Bearer said that.

These records dont have anything to do with that, but they are bands that are just as classic as the Fix or the Meatmen!

skullhead1984 has some cool stuff for sale. This is a bootleg collection of SOA stuff. It includes the No Policy 7″, a 1980 demo session, their tracks from the “Flex Your Head” comp, some live tracks from 1980, plus some songs by The Extorts, which was basicly SOA with Lyle Preslar on vocals. Its a total of 35 songs! The sellers says its a Euro inport limted to 300 copies, but who knows!?

kickitpacman is selling some cool stuff, but for some reason doesnt say which press this is. Not sure if he is hoping someone uneducated will think its a 1st press because he said he got it from someone at Dischord or if he just doesnt know or doesnt think its important.

No matter the reason, I’m pretty sure its a 3rd press cause its black vinyl, henry has the bars on his arm and it says ‘State of Alert’ on the lables.

Mr. Henry Garfield

Hammerin’ Hank is 49 years old…. he was 20 years old when this record came out. I wonder if 20 Year old Henry Garfield had any idea he would grow up to Henry Rollins, bonafied celebrity, movie star and TV star acting alongside such greats as Brandon Lee, Michael Keaton, Katey Sagal, Ron Perlman, Cuba Gooding Jr. & Malcolm McDowell?

This is a piece of history that has been on my record ‘want’ list for quite awhile and will probably stay there quite awhile longer!
