Rest In Pieces – I before E, except after C

straightray is not letting up on the crucial hardcore vinyl. When I first heard the name Rest In Pieces, I wasn’t immediately drawn to the band, or itching to hear them. Later I found out Armand sang for them and the line up was basically the Alleyway Crew in some form backing him up. With each layer of this bands history that I peeled back there was always something cooler beneath the surface. As someone who knew Roadrunner Records very well in the late 90s I was surprised to learn of the connection there as well. The promo pic on the back of that LP? Somethin’ else! The song titles on this album are some of the best. Top shelf hilarity. Something for perspective…Pound for Pound I like RIP more than I do SOIA. I only really get into the demo/ep/lp for SOIA, but for RIP I celebrate their whole catalogue beginning with The Nose Demo.

and a SICK OF IT ALL colored vinyl trio too

Three more NYHC classics on colored wax from jbil. Also released in 1999 on Kingfisher Records from Germany like the Agnostic Front records posted earlier, these must have been part of some push by Century Media to get some hardcore street cred. That lime green Blood Sweat lp is out of 100 but I dont know if that color of vinyl is really working for that record. The darker green however looks pretty sweet.
Just Look Around was my first exposure to SOIA and is the only good record of theirs I dont own on vinyl so the grey wax on this looks pretty appealing.

SOIA ep first press #0006

Some people like their numbered records to be low numbered, or high numbered, or a specific number. If you one of the ones who like low low numbers (and you obviously like this 7″ or you wouldnt be reading this site right) then this is for you.
Usually when labels make something cool or number things they give the first few to their friends. #0006 is no different as it used to belong to Duane Some. I got another copy of this from Duane Some that was unnumbered once. That dude had everything cool.
Anyway this copy straightray is selling is still reasonably priced, low number or not. And its in tip top shape, perfect for an upgrade.

Sick Of It All s/t on red

I know this record is numbered. It kind of bothers me that the seller doesn’t list the number. Im weird like that. I know most people wouldnt care but that just seems lazy to me. eferentz could have tried harder. You can’t toy with the Sick Of It All 7″ on rev like that. It deserves better.

BIN might be a little high?

jcsmiths is selling rare copy of Sick of it Alls ‘Based on a True Story’. Its one of the black/white swirl/mix vinyl copies and he says its limited to 150 copies. I know a lot of people collect SOIA stuff so 150 is a pretty low number for a cool color vinyl variant, but I think he might be just a little off with his BIN price.

I’m gonna let you check it out and comment back here to let me know what you think. Maybe I’ve been out of the loop to long and this is a good price. Perhaps ‘Based on a True Story’ on colored vinyl is the new Chung King or the next God Save the Queen 7″.

The SOIA RSD Pressing? That’s SO Last Year.

So, I was going to make a post about apie666′s Sick Of It All ep’s from last years Record Store Day, and talk about how this years RSD helped them slip under the radar. Except, thing is, it really did no such thing, except maybe on the third of these. Other than that one still being under 10 bucks, these are doing just fine, and all three will be ending in about a day.

You can, however, get in on the ground floor on his auction for this white wax version. 6th press, limited to 300, leave me alone, I’m still dancin’.

COC & SOIA ‘Reel-to-Reel’ tapes

talbe1019 has something pretty interesting for sale and no bids with just over a day left too!

the description says:
This is an authentic 2 reel promo by Westwood One with Corrosion of Conformity and Sick Of It All recorded live in concert. This is show number 95-22 for the week of May 22nd, 1995. The tapes are in great condition. Boxes are in nice shape but show some wear and has writing in marker on the spine. Reels sound great. These reels are 7 inch – 1/2 track stereo at 7.5 IPS. Cue sheets are included. Show runs approxiamtely 90 minutes including commercials.

He actually has very similiar 2 band sets of reel-to-reel tapes for a bunch of other bands too. Anyone have any idea what the hell these are!?

REV SOIA RSD 7″

Record store day has come and gone for 2010, but the records live on!
The Revelation re-press of the first SOIA 7″ was one of my biggest ‘wants’ on record store day and I was lucky enough to get one. If you didnt maybe you’re interested in this one which has the red logo on the sleeve.

The seller says that its 1 of only 29, but even with all the variations of it, I’m not sure thats correct.

“I’m Craig Ahead, you can’t replace me.”

The other day Casali made a post over at www.TeeTillDeath.com about a Slapshot shirt being sold by truckfighter420. I have over 100 Slapshot shirts, but didnt have the one posted so I went to check it out and looked at his other auctions. Surprisingly he only has 4 items or sale. The Slapshot shirt, a Clutch shirt, a Slo Burn poster and this Straight Ahead LP. Sounds like the kind of deal where I almost with there was a ‘buy them all’ button!

Also check out this cool, but old (from 2002) interview with Craig Ahead where he says “I’m Craig Ahead, you can’t replace me. That was my band, I wrote all the songs.”, “I didn’t like being in Youth Of Today very much at the time. Because they were Look at me! Look at me!” and that of all the bands he’s been in the one he likes the most is Straight Ahead!

hardcore reality fresh from 89.. you suckas!

Here is a classic slab of NYHC vinyl coming out of Brookline, MA!

montropolis also has copies of ‘Dont Forget The Struggles’ and ‘Open Your Eyes’ from Warzone as well as a 4 Skins double LP and a few other records. He also had a copy of Crucial Youths ‘Posi Machine’ LP on milk colored vinyl, but I wanted to bid on that one! : )

I suggest you buy this, slap it on your turntable and tape a quarter to the arm so that the inevitable bedroom mosh doesnt cause any unwanted skipping on your new record!

Hardcore For Education Revisited.

As we noted on here before, the Hardcore For Educations have been put online, and since I mentioned a couple of their auctions earlier, I thought we should take a look at some more of what goldenempirepto has up. Plus my last post was on the CTHC tip, so I figured one more classic from the Constitution state couldn’t hurt…

Speaking of classics, this record is certainly one of them. This is the 2010 Record Store Day pressing, limited to 555.

Or maybe you’re more interested in owning the test pressings for the collection of Revelation rarities known as Revelation Records 100…

No matter which one of these you’re interested in, you can rest assured that you’re bidding on it for a good cause. For more information on Hardcore For Education, just click the link!

SOIA

Four little letters to represent such a huge band! There is no arguing that Sick of it All is one of, if not the most, consistant bands in hardcore. They have had close to 25 years of amazing live shows and never released a real ‘clunker’ of an album.

This is a first pressing, Revelation Records #3 and this is #941 of 1000.

I thought this would be cool to post up as a way to celebrate the new SOIA record “Based on a True Story” coming out on April 20th. Also Reflections Records will re-release “Blood, Sweat And No Tears” and “Just Look Around” with original artwork packaged in a gatefold sleeve limited to 500 copies later this year.

SOIA

SICK OF IT ALL 7″ Revelation #3 complte with original insert. limited to 1000.

Nice addition to a Rev collection or a great way to start a SOIA collection!
