If you visited eBay this past while you probably noticed all the Star Wars blue-ray hoopla, well forget blue-ray (OK I’m lying, I’ll probably buy the trilogy sometime) here’s something when records were truly main-stream. A spoken word “read-along” 7″ with cool little books with pictures! I found the Empire Strikes Back one in the used bin at my store where I work recently and I listened to it, man these things are pretty fun, check them out. Here you get the first and the third movies for $8 bucks BIN, you’ll be surprised how much spoken word fits on a 7″, and there are cool little sound effects from the movies too! Totally made me feel pre-pubescent.

the Geeks vs. the Nerds

I have a friend thats really into comics, action figures, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and other stuff that even though I’m into as well I think classifys as being ‘Geeky’. That same friend is also a web designer and gets WAY into all kinds of stuff that I dont understand at all and he uses the term ‘Geeky’ for that sometimes and I think thats wrong. I think that comic books and action figures are geeky, but things like technology, websites and math fall under the banner of being ‘Nerdy’.

I’m not trying to say there should be segragation between the two groups or that a person cant be both a nerd and a geek, but I do think there is a difference. For example, blogging about obscure records is geeky, having indepth conversations about the virtues of blogspot vs blogger.com is nerdy and debating the difference between a geek and a nerd is just a waste of time.

Late, great 1977… when picture discs and 8 track tapes were king! Ok…. maybe not really, but Star Wars was king thats for damn sure! xqwizet wants to help you relive the Star Wars hype with this picture disc & 8 track combo deal. Both items feature ‘the story of Star Wars’ so I assume they are some sort of abridged audio only version of the movie, but I’m not sure.

I heard on the radio the other day that they are re-releasing (again) the Star Wars movies this time done in 3D starting with The Phantom Menace next in 2012. Then they will do one every 2 years until all 6 are done. Unfortunantly that means we have to wait until 2018 to see A New Hope.

Star Wars just seems to go right along side of Hardcore. From the Cabal 315 Jedi shirts to the Slapshot ‘Darkside of the Straight Edge’ shirts its just a perfect match…. like choclate & peanut butter!

This is a 7″ of the ‘Cantina Band’ which was later named Figrin D’an and the Modal Nodes. Seven Biths from the planet Clak’dor VII, but you already knew that!
