Step Forward 10-21-06

I was never a crosswords puzzle guy. Too many rules. First you have to answer clues. Then you have to slam words into these spaces and hope everything lines up. One wrong guess, and you can fuck yourself. Not the game for me. Too many strict rules. I need something a little more free form. Been fucking with scrabble/ words with friends lately. That’s more my game. I’ve got a Starbucks beverage riding on a game. Cut throat stakes.

There’s a record from Step Forward in this post too. You know, Loud And Clear USA. #3 across. These dropped on Edge Day (Observed) in 2006. Great day, great record, great record label. Win-win-win.

Rival Mobs.

Seller vinaledge is selling two records from The Mob that people are always going back and forth over which is better. One might even call them rival Mobs.

We even go back and forth over it on this site: Cooch is an Upset The System man, while I stick with the party line of Step Forward being the better of the two. Both are top notch records though, and you won’t go wrong with either one in your collection.

Step Forward.

Seller jk3465 brings us the proper companion piece to Cooch’s favorite Mob record…

I’m going to disagree with Cooch; this is by far my preferred Mob recording. That title track is undeniable. If hardcore had hit singles, it would have been one of ‘em.

Ends in about 24 hours. Get your bids in.

Edge Day is just around the corner

My buddy Judd is liquidating some records and tapes for a friend of ours, and here’s an appropriate listing since Edge Day ’10 is only a few weeks away…

This is one of my favorite packaging jobs on a record that we (Painkiller) have released. We had some leftover covers and decided to press up 100 or so each of Waste Management and Step Forward’s respective debut 7″s, and sell them in a 2-pack at Edge Day ’08. In typical fashion, the records showed up the day before the show and I was making/assembling these things the night before, the morning of, and during the show itself (with some help from Morgado, thx bud). There are 109 sets, with a complete copy of each record, both with stamped a-side labels and PKR logo b-side labels. The records come housed in a gatefold jacket, kinda like a file folder, with a collage of old Boston HC flyers with the XXX screened over it, and closed up with a #’d obi strip. They came out pretty sweet if I do say so myself, check out the 2nd pic (from our site) for the total package.

2 Across: One ____ _______ Two Steps Back.

I love it when sellers like coldstares get super specific with when they picked up a record. Of course in this case, it’s hard not to, since, we’re talking about the crossword puzzle cover of the Step Forward e.p., which was sold only at Think I Care’s last show (it was also the record release show for Righteous Jams “Business As Usual” lp) and was stamped with the date. Kind of makes it hard to forget…

ticlastshow

Why yes, I did rip off the Eye For An Eye logo for the TIC logo on the flier, how nice of you to notice.

Top to bottom, it was a great show. All the openers killed it. Possibly the best response Think I Care ever got (I hate it when that happens; TIC were awesome and should have gotten rabid reactions like they did at this show every show). Craig Mack moshed to literally everybody. Strangely, I don’t remember Cold World’s set at all. Righteous Jams ended things out with what seemed like a series of giant pile ups. Definitely an awesome gig.

Step Forward – Boston Straight Edge

What do you know about Step Forward (no, not that Step Forward)? I’m guessing about as much as me. You want to know why that is? It’s because this band is busy living life, not hanging on the internet all day. No complaints there, that’s really what I do all day (what’s that say about my life? Yeah, pretty much …). They don’t have a website, they don’t have myspace, they don’t have twitter or a bigcartel site. Actually, I semi take that Myspace comment back. They have a page, but check when they last logged in. Yeah, that makes sense. Luckily, you can listen to most of the demo tracks online. That’s a good thing. So if you aren’t into this cassette from doomtown412 (and you should definitely be into cassettes), go head over to Painkiller Records. You can snag mp3s and other wonderful merch direct from the source.
