Last chance for Kyle’s auctions

Daylight savings has me all messed up. At like 5:30 last night, my brain felt like it was time to leave work. So I got myself ready, and then looked at a clock, and realized that it was far too early to be done for the day. So I decided that I would run some DW related errands. I ran over to Liberated Images, and pick up some new Deafheaven merch that we got printed up, then headed into Boston to meet up with Jeff from Run For Cover in a police station parking lot to pick  up some new RFC titles for our distro.  Since I was in Boston, I decided to treat myself to breakfast for dinner, and had some pancakes, and while peacefully enjoying my meal Whitlow starts blowing up my phone. Apparently he felt he wasn’t getting enough VN coverage this time around, and was hassling me to post up some of his stuff. So since we go way back, I told him I would do this for him. Move quick, these all end tonight!!!

Both Demos

How many bands ever released TWO demos? Two demos is a pretty good way to go. Think about it for a minute. How often does a band release a demo and then start putting out LPs? It happens. And usually, those LPS would have made better EPs. And if your LP would make a better EP, might as well stick with a solid tape. Stop And Think did two LPs and busted out. They definitely went out on a high note. It’s a solid heritage of two demos they followed. Think Raw Deal. Think Breakdown. Solid. What other bands released multiple demos?

Please note: gblairkemp is relisting this due to issues with the previous winner. Booo. I hate non-paying bidders.

Happy National Edge Day!

Got a couple items here we surprisingly slept on all this time, but it’s kind of for the best. Because this pair of Boston Straight Edge recordings from gblairkemp are ending today: National Edge Day. Now, what band’s last show was probably the biggest NED show ever? Have Heart. And what band’s 2nd demo (put out for Edge Day on Edge Day Records) is the B side to the lp below? Stop and Think. Yes, a very appropriate pair of auction endings to start this years NED.

Lockin Out Lockin Out Lockin Out.

Before we get to the various Planet Mental lp’s that barfight is selling, I thought a quick check in with some of the other LOC big names would be appropriate… Stop and Think Straight Ahead rip off sleeve? Check.

Rage of Discipline on red (a way better look than the gold vinyl)? Check.

Annnnd The Wrong Side… of the Grave on toothpaste green, sans insert (because for some reason more than half never had inserts inserted)? Check!

These are arguably the big 3 of LOC lp’s. And I say arguably, because I’d rather have Rampage’s Limit of Destruction than TWS up there any day. But alas, the seller’s auctions don’t have a copy available…

Stop And Think And Free Spirit

Here are two more related (for more ways than one) demos from southparktvma. Here’s the story.

I remember one time in Haverhill they covered Stop and Think. The only people (for the whole song at least) singing alone were Jonny Cen and I. Kids that were at this show jock Stop And Think all day, but they didn’t even know the words to one of their songs. Pathetic.

I seem to recall this particular song. I also recall singing along. I also doubly recall it being a super sloppy cover. It wouldn’t surprise me if kids didn’t recognize it fully. But I’ve got to agree with southparktvma on this one. If you can’t hang with a cover by Free Spirit, it’s time to get off the jock.

How Do You Improve An Ignaurus Poster?

I still don’t like Into Another. Sad story. And it doesn’t matter how many times you tell me the split with Engine Kid is “killah.” I’m not falling for it. But isisnowwas has done something I approve of. He’s taken a whatever Ignaurus poster and he has IMPROVED it. Yes, he has. How, you ask? Why, check out those items holding down the edge. Stop And Think, No Warning? Yes and yes. Poster improved. Would have been more ironic if it was held down with this cassette. You know it.

Or maybe you prefer Shark Attack or Panic. Either way, the corner holders are better than the poster.

One Day Left!

How did we miss all the rest of these Lockin Out and B9 related gems from modbasher187 until now? Well, better late than never I guess, as these have just under a day left to go…

And there’s plenty more where that came from, so be sure to scope out the other auctions!

Demo Noize: Stop And Think

This one ranks up there as one of my all time favorite demos. And it’s more than just time and place, even though that certainly plays a part. Weekends going to shows, stage diving with AJ and the NASE crew. Such good times. Grab this demo from crucial_times. What up Dolloff?

Promote Synergy.

Couple more BIN’s from welcometolud

Would that the SA record was first press (ie the cover that S&T copied for this Posi Numbers press) as it would promote auction synergy, but quite frankly, that would be being greedy. As before, the BIN gets you free shipping, and the starting bids are $9.99 if you want to take a shot at winning it for less.

Stop And Think

Stop And Think is one of those bands that I will always love. They were a Straight Edge torch bearer in the early 2ks. When everyone else was growing out their hair, selling out and dropping out, Stop And Think was there. With in your face straight edge anthems, they meant business. Not only that, but they’ve stood the test of time. These demos dropped nearly 10 years ago, and the message and music is still relevant. And it still makes you want to mosh. I’m waiting for Mental to release another album so that we can all see another Stop And Think gig.

Courtesy of btwostep and copiousamounts, you have your choice of presses. You can go with the first press, Straight Ahead style lp, or the 2nd press. Split release on Lockin Out and Painkiller Records. You can’t go wrong either way.

Joey C: The Demos.

I’ve never heard of redscrollstore before, but apparently they’re a record store in CT that’s been around since 2007. I doubt they’re striving to fill the void left behind by the late great Trash American Style, but they sure are knocking it out of the park with the demo collections… case in point, you can get the entire demo discography of Joey C, starting with the Invasion demo…

(This did come with a lyric sheet, but it was a photocopied and folded piece of paper attached via rubber band. You could easily borrow a friend’s and make your own)

And then there’s both the Stop And Think demos, as collected on Both Demos:

And of course we’ve got Righteous Jams (is it me or does this cover look a little weird? Like it’s missing the fold out or something. Probably just doesn’t have a case for it and didn’t bother to fold it out):

And there’s even a possible rarity for the pièce de résistance…

Cute As A Button, Tough As Nails? I have literally never seen or heard of this version of the RJ demo before. In fact, it’s not even the demo line up on the cover. Any ideas Cooch?

Stop & Think Walks Straight Ahead.

Our old friend delapasion brings us another awesome record in the form of the Straight Ahead rip off version of the Stop And Think “Both Demos” lp.

An X’d up Joey C flipping the bird while playing guitar and wearing a WarZone camo hat will always be awesome.

Your Attitude Stinks

GET LOST!

A split release by Lockin Out and Painkiller Records. A gem every collection needs.

Crucial dudes for a crucial time. Selling these at Posi #s 03 was intense. Their was a mob waiting to purchase them in the back little corner. Super intense. Great weekend overall, no doubt.

Great Straight Ahead look.

Mental And You Know This, Man!

Yesterday was 01.25.10

You know what that means.

It means it has been 7 years since the record release of the And You Know This, Man! EP.

This show was epic, it was monumental. It’s already in the history books as off the charts.

ICC Alston Mass: Mental, Suicide File (LP record release), Stop And Think, Think I Care, Striking Distance, American Nightmare

Ill, ill lineup. Count Me Out was supposed to play but canceled. Their loss. After Suicide File played, Weinberg announced a special headliner. American Nightmare busted out, played all their EP songs, and then never played any of them again. Or so they said. It was a retiring party for EPs.

The Mental set was bonkers. Stop And Think was off the wall too. Just a great, great show.

This isn’t the record release cover, but you need this one for your collection anyway. Get into it.
