Turning Point – It’s Always Darkest…

alcontrast is back with another straight edge gem and a bit of a collector’s variant with the Turning Point lp, It’s Always Darkest Before The Dawn.

If you are into the minutia of record collecting this may be right up your alley. The copy up for grabs here has a very dark blue stripe down the front cover. The one I have and others I have seen have a much brighter, noticeable stripe, so if you are looking for collecting the different shades of striping, this one may fit the bill. If you are going for it based on the stripe, can I borrow some money? Obviously you have a lot to throw around.

Other than that, this record is in basically new condition, still has the shrink wrap attached and comes with the red and black print insert. Don’t sweat the red marker writing on Skip’s arm. I’m sure that is on the shrink wrap or else it would have been mentioned.

Lot’s of time left on this one to figure out what shade of stripe you need.

No Remorse. No Tolerance.

Can anyone tell me why No Tolerance doesn’t play more shows? Seriously. This band is AWESOME. DFJ is intense as a frontman. I’d love to see this band play more. Someone. Make this happen! Grab this No Remorse. No Tolerance. EP while you wait for the next gig. These don’t pop up often. Either DFJ has a stash of them in his closet, or very few were made.

One thing. If zwill24 sends this record in that shitty bubble mailer, the buyer will have plenty of remorse.

Bonds Of Friendship

You ever have a friend who pushed those bonds of friendship? You know, that one person who tried everything in their power to push all your buttons? Worst part, it was always an unconscious move on their part. They never realized what they were doing. We all know a person like that. Somehow, the guy I always think of plays in well with this Insted LP. His move was to play this album over and over and over AND OVER again. It turned most people against it, but hey, I’ve got the PMA. I still love this one. If you are looking for Wishingwell Records color vinyl, this is probably your cheapest option. Hit up nocturnal_sk8_punx and bid!

GB EP With White Streaks??

Since my name is not Jeff Lasich, I don’t own an off white Gorilla Biscuits S/T Ep. Hell, I’ve never seen one in real life, just a picture. I recall it was VERY pale yellow. Very light. The “official” possible explanation is that the off whites were created by mixing the white and yellow colors. And that the off white vinyl was the first out of the machine. After that, everything was yellow. But what about this EP from truckfighter420? Are those white streaks, or are my eyes deceiving me? Is this one going to be a blood bath, or run of the mill GB price? The start price feels like a waste, but I’m guessing the seller isn’t exactly in touch with the ebay market these days. Good luck if you go after this one.

Youth of Today – Can’t Close My Bank Account

With all the crazy rare versions of this record that have been on ebay lately, this one might be the answer for anyone not willing to throw down two months of car payments for orange vinyl and a batman stamp, or a month’s gas bill for red lettering.

artpunkfool has a very nice looking 2nd press (or 4th press in Dobek’s world) of the Can’t Close My Eyes 7″ on Positive Force. This one has the black and white lettering on the cover and blue labels.
It’s a real win/win situation, you get the original sound on the original format but without the crazy collector costs of the first or fourth pressing.

There is still a lot of time left on this one. Plenty for you to decide if you can make your bill payments and score a real gem!

Speaking of In My Eyes collectors…

If you really want to be an In My Eyes completist, you’re going to need this tape too. Released as a promo piece for their Nothing To Hide LP, this cassingle(!) also features a couple songs from Northwest* all-stars By A Thread. In My Eyes on one side, By A Thread on the other. Well, I assume that’s how it’s split, as this copy is still sealed. At least the cover looks that way. Deathwishinc is an awesome ebayer, with tons of auctions going at all times. ;)  Also, if you are a Revelation Records completist, perhaps this is going to be something you need as well.  Oh collectors, will your addictions ever end?  I also just noticed that the cover of this is essentially just dude’s hairy shins.  Sick design…  perhaps the designer at Rev at that time was a shin fetishist?

*Is it still “Northwest” when it is actually the Southwest of Canada? I mean, I know they are “America’s Hat” and all that, but should we make this distinction?  When people say Northwest Hardcore, we all know what they are talking about.  Canadians, does this bum you out?

Turning Point Trio

Let’s keep the starttodayfanzine love going with this trio of serious sxe heavyhitters.

Jeff has basically opened the museum of hardcore record collecting to the public with his auctions right now. He is definitely making it hard to pick just one to focus on and unless you are independently wealthy, there’s no way you are picking up all of them!

Any one of these versions of the first Turning Point 7″ is a home run and should be part of any serious collection.

I have always been partial to the first press of this record. Black vinyl, blue labels and a huge insert.

Color freaks LOVE the gold version. It is only out of 100 pressed so this might get crazy…

Finally we have it on red vinyl out of 200. This is no slouch either. It will go big. Hopefully everyone can help Jeff out with these auctions. It has to be tough to get rid of these many amazing records. Dig deep.

Thou Shalt Not NOT Buy This

Oh man, this Antidote is crucial. Love this EP. Straight out of 1983. That’s right. Nearly 30 years ago. Fuck, crazy. This one also comes from the collection of starttodayfanzine. So many gems today.
