DYS Test Presses and Punk Rock Days

Oh sure, recordsrecords is selling a DYS test press. And sure, it’s Taang Records #34. But that’s not the mind blowing one here. What about this Dave Smalley kickstarter project?

Mind = Blown.

DYS is still going strong? Down By Law is still going strong? Why can’t Dag Nasty still be going strong? When did Dave Smalley become Walter? I want to hear what these songs sound like. You all better donate!

Help Jerry’s Kids

Heres a couple more from The Taang! Store.

I figured that since this past weekend was the Muscular Dystrophy Association telethon it was fitting to post a couple of Jerry’s Kids records. Jerry’s Kids (the band) was actually scheduled to play as part of the Punks for a Princess benefit this past weekend but had to cancel due to injuries sustained during their set at the Gallery East Reunion show the week before. A totally amazing & legendary band that still kicks ass today!!

WOLFPACK – Test Press

Looks like Curtis is trying an actual auction insted of all the high priced BIN’s in the Taang! store. Only problem is that he didnt bother to post a picture. I know that its a tets press in a plain white sleeve, but give me something to look at please!?!

With a starting bid this low on a DYS test press I would be surprised if someone from here doesnt grab it. even the BIN price isn’t to bad, especially compared to a lot of the other Taang! store prices.

Lots of hype with the ‘Gallery East/Boston Crew’ reunion show coming up, great time to add this record to your collection. Its not a Brotherhood test, but its still cool!

So Ends Our Night…

No better place to get a Last Rights 7″ then from Medford, MA!

Last Rights – Chunks/So Ends Our Night 7″ includes the extra front only sleeve and both the Taang! ad insert and the Taang! trade list insert. With the exception of a Hitler sleeve, it doesnt get better than this!

What ever we do…. We do as a crew!!

Last week we had a bootleg Last Rights 7″ coming out of Europe, but this week we have an original coming out of Wakefield, Massachusetts!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… this is my favorite hardcore record. I wont bore you with a long drawn out history about how it was suposed to be on XClaim, but I will make a request that if you currently own or know who owns the Last Rights acetates and/or a one of the 7″ test presses PLEASE sell them to me!

This one looks like its in great shape and its being sold by the original owner who was in an 80′s Boston hardcore band and sang backing vocals on ‘So Ends Our Night’.

Taang! vs Patriot

If you’re looking to pad your collection of laser discs check out the auctions that blackandread posted.

they got some records up too including this Taang! repress of the Forced Reality LP. I actually didnt know that Taang! rereleased this. It must have at the same time that they did the Stars & Stripes LP, but I wonder why they didnt do the Bruisers 7″?

Anyway… great American OI band, great record and (in my opinion) and awesome LP cover. I love all the open blank white space and how the image is set off to the right. Awesome look!

1987 Taang Sampler

yestoday is selling a bunch of odds and ends and this is one of the more ‘odd’ items. I’ve only seen this one other time (it was a sealed copy) and I bought it for my Slapshot collection.

I’m not sure if this was only on cassette, but I would assume it was. Taang! Records # 17 “A Fist Full O’ Hits” comp tape featuring… Mission of Burma, Moving Targets, Lemonheads, Gang Green, Oysters, Outlets, Stranglehold, Keith Levene, Unnatural Axe, Bullet LaVolta, Slapshot, Jerry’s Kids, Kil Slug and D.Y.S.

The price on this is so low that I’m tempted to hit the B.I.N. right now, but I’ll give you guys a shot at it first.

SOLD OUT!

marsplymouth is selling records by 3 bands… Psycho, Skrewdriver & GangGreen.

This is on of the records that started and era in Boston hardcore. I know that SSD and XClaim started it in Boston and ‘This is Boston no LA’ came before this record, but this is Taang! Records #1 from 1984. The lable that has put out everything from Dinosaur Jr. and Stars & Stripes to Poison Idea and The Business.

GangGreen – Sold Out 7″ on black vinyl. I think that its limited to around 2000, but I’m not positive. I know it also came out on green vinyl (limited to 300 I think) and a super special clear vinyl version with an acetate sleeve all numbered of 100 copies.

The green vinyl version of this is one of the first ‘rare’ records I bought way back in the day. I think I paid $15 for it and that was a huge investment then!

gimme a line, gimme a line, gimme a line…

ryanb714 has over 400 records for sale and most of them have reasonable Buy It Now prices on them.

I thought this one was pretty cheap, I’m pretty sure I paid more for mine than the BIN on this one. Based on the pressings of Back on the Map (red, white, light blue, silver, or yellow lables) I’m sure Taang! changed the lable colors for each pressing, but I dont know how many there are. I’ve also heard that it came on Red, White and Green vinyls, but I’ve never seen any of them.

All that being said, this record is awesome. Some people hate it because its so much different than the ‘Boston not LA’ stuff, but I think its awesome. ‘Alcohol’ is one of my favorite songs of all time!

LICK the CREATOR and HATE YOUR FRIENDS

A trio of LEMONHEADS test presses.. Taang! 15, 23 & 32. With all the recent Taang! test presses on eBay someone could put together a nice collection. Kind of like assembling a vintage set of baseball cards and eventually only needing the superstar cards.

So here are test presses of HATE YOUR FRIENDS, LICK and CREATOR. Based on other Taang! releases I would assume these are limited to somewhere between 20-40 pieces each.

hardcore turntables

Add a dash of hardcore to your turntable no matter what record your playing with these Taang! Records 25th anniversary slipmats. They were done as a promo item in 2009 for Japan only, but luckily Curtis has some stockpiled and you can buy them from the Taang! store!

at the sound of the beat…

the time will be… exactly…. NOW! Oi, Oi, Oi, Oi, Oi, Oi, Dias… Comprende… No!

yup… I like the Maelstrom record. I saw them a few times, but remeber once at E.M. Lowes in Worcester the best. They were LOUD! I have no idea how the trio of Slapshot, Maelstrom & The Bosstones managed to tour together with no one getting killed. It was a 5 member hardcore band, a 4 member funk metal band and a 9 member ska band… what a circus!

Step One! is like a blast from the past… I wonder what Step Two would have sounded like!?

Charlie Don’t Surf!

I’m a huge fan of this record (because its awesome!) and I love the color vinyls from the 2nd press. There was ‘Buse Blue’, ‘Atkins Amber’, ‘Squeeky Clear’ & this one, the ‘Helter Skelter Red’. Each color was limited to about 500 pieces.

If you only have the more recent reissue on Reflex Records (on black, pink or yellow vinyl) then this is your chance to pick up one of the originals!!
