Kill Kill Kill!

As much of a mark as I am for Slapshot, I can admit that Jerry’s Kids are amazing! The last time I saw them was quite awhile ago now at the Gallery East reunion show and they killed it! This is not as cool as an XClaim release, but its still a Jerry’s Kids test press from the early years of Taang!. The seller says its limited to 25 which sounds about right based on some other Taang! tests that I’ve seen.

The seller terminal_damage has kind of low feedback and only this one record for sale but his description says that hes selling it because times are tough so keep an eye out for more from him.

Last Rights – Chunks 7″

headcoatt from down under has got a great slab of wax for sale. I feel as though this piece of the Choke discography outshines his previous bands, Negative FX and his later band Slapshot by a lot (and Stars and Stripes). “Chunks” b/w “So End Our Night” is a 1, 2, punch and if you have the No Guts, No Glory Last Rights LP there are some other good bangers on there as well that could have made a real good E.  There’s less than a day left on this piece of vinyl and the reserve is not yet met. Check It Out

TPT Goes Into SDO.

As Test Press Tuesday runs down, we turn to seller theeels for one last shot at a decent test. And he comes through, with a Slapshot Sudden Death Overtime test press. He says this was actually made in low numbers, but it’s Taang, and they seem to always have a test press or two available so take that for what it’s worth. Still, a good way to end TPT.

Now THAT’S What A DYS Test Press Auction Should Look Like.

Last Test Press Tuesday, we had up one of Taang’s lame duck test press auctions. You know the ones: picture free, high BIN, total waste of your time. Seller fate_just_missed though, he’s got one that was actually started reasonably, and even better, comes with a picture so you can see what you’re getting. Whether or not he paid Taang’s price to get it, I couldn’t say, but I can say that he’s selling a ton of stuff due to divorce, and having been through one myself, I know how much it sucks. So be sure to check out everything he’s got and bid if you can. There’s a lot of auctions, so I’m sure he’s got something for everyone in there somewhere.

DYS – “Wolfpack” TPT

The Taang! store is selling a test of DYS – “Wolfpack”, for a BIN of $300 /w free shipping. Now since it’s “Wolfpack” and on Taang!, don’t get it confused with “Brotherhood” on XClaim, but it’s still pretty cool, right? So cool, that they don’t even think they need to provide a picture for it or a decent description. Questions might need to be asked…

“Squeeky Clear”

The Taang! Store always has some great records on eBay its just that most of them are way overpriced for what they are or they are just really high end records, but once in awhile they put up an auction thats a pretty good deal… like this one!

Negative FX self titled LP on “Squeeky (Fromme) Clear” vinyl. The first Negative FX LP I bought was actually one of the clear vinyl copies. I think I got it at In Your Ear on Thayer Street in the late 80′s and I know I played the hell out of it! I actually still have it too!

The colored vinyl copies are represses, but they were done so long ago that they are just as nice to have as the black vinyl, plus they look cooler. The pressing was approximately 500 each of Red, Blue, Gold/Amber and Clear. If you dont already have this one I think the BIN is a decent price even though the cover is damaged. Since its from Taang! the LP has probably never been played.

Negative FX goes yellow?

Looks like the Taang! Store got ahold of some of the Negative FX reissue LPs.

This is not from the ‘Atkins Amber’ aka ‘Negative FX goes gold’ press of about 500 copies, its actually much rarer. This is from a Reflex Records licensed ‘discography’ pressing of of 1000 total with 800 on black, and only 100 on pink and 100 on yellow.

Usually I’m first to admit that the Taang! prices are high, but I think that based on it being limited to only 100 the BIN price isn’t to bad here.

the vinyl is always greener…

I’m pretty surprised that this Green vinyl copy of Step on it that randomfortune is selling ends in about a day and it has no bids yet.

Now granted its ONLY the vinyl, but slapping this in a regular sleeve and reselling it would be worth it. It would look cool in a frame too and I might make the opening bid and do that with it if I win.

1 note, the seller is way off when he says this was limited to only a few hundred copies. There were about 1000 each of the red vinyl and the green vinyl Step on It LPs. Still an awesome record though!

DYS Wolfpack test

Welp, this didn’t take too long… my buddy Mr. jrohara IM’d me the other night to ask what this was worth, and I told him to let ebay decide, and here it is.

I’m sure there are a decent amount of these out there as with most Taang related test presses, but short of offering me a lot of $MONEY$ for my copy, you’re probably not getting anywhere near an X-Claim! test any time soon, so this is the next best thing. Have fun.

Same Mistake…

tilbury*trojan has a bunch of stuff up for sale, but doesnt offer that much info in his descriptions.

Heres a copy of the Slapshot ‘Same Mistake’ 7″ from Taang! Records. This came out red, blue, green & black vinyl. The red, blue & green were limited to 1000 a piece and most people say that the black vinly was limited to only 200, but I was told 300 by Curtis from Taang! awhile ago. Now just because thats what Curtis told me doesnt mean its true, but either way 200 or 300 is pretty limited for a hardcore record from almost 25 years ago!

taking a Positive Approach to Negative Approach collecting!

lets be honest, well all love Negative Approach! I know there are some people out there that don’t really like Youth of Today or maybe they just can’t get into the Bad Brains, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say they didn’t like Negative Approach! I was super psyched because when I went to the Tesco Vee book signing/talk for the Touch & Go book John Brannon was there and I got him to sign the cover of my book… bonus!

Now, I may have a signed Touch & Go book, but I still don’t have an original NA 7″ yet. I’m holding out for a 1st press, but the problem is they are all out of my price range. I did recently pick up a copy of the Touch & Go reissue version and the Taang! 7″ of unreleased material and both are awesome. I actually talked to John about the cover of the reissue and he just said that they couldnt use the original because they would have gotten sued so he just had a friend redraw it. I didnt want to push my opinion on the cover (its pretty shitty!) so I just shut up, but I really wish they would have just put it in a plain black sleeve insted of what they did!

Firewall is down, I’m looking at GOOD stuff on the internet today!

The firewall on the computers at my work must be down because I was finally able to look at xxxevilxxx666′s other auctions. Usually they are blocked because of the xxx in his user name. The firewall assumes its inappropriate and wont open the pages. I usually cant search for Sex Pistols records either!

I actually just sold a copy of this Bosstones double 10″ about 6 months ago for $100 and was shocked that it was worth that much, but since this one is so low maybe I just got really lucky or sold mine to someone really desperate!

DYScography

Its no secret that I carry the banner of Boston Hardcore pretty hard. I love NY bands, Detroit bands, DC bands, Cali bands, Texas bands etc, but theres just something about the Boston sound that hooked me right from the start and being so close I got to see more of those bands and it just became MY hardcore. Its also no secret that Slapshot is my favorite band, but I also really love me some DYS!

Wolfpack was the first DYS record I ever had back in 9th or 10th grade and I loved the real hardcore songs like True Till Death and Wolfpack, but I also loved the funny stuff like the Iron Man cover and the Rub-a-Dub song.

Not long after Wolfpack my friend Liam got ahold of ‘the 2nd DYS record’ which seemed questionable just by looking at the band photos on the back. I mean, D. Christian Smalley with a lizard on this shoulder?!

These days if you have any interest at all in hearing the 2nd record you may as well track down a copy of the ‘Fire & Ice’ record. I remember when Taang! put this out because they did some merch that had a cool crossed arms/Xed up fists graphic on it. This is the Dutch version of the LP that Taang! licensed to Roadrunner in the early 90′s.

I actually didnt really find out about the Brotherhood record until I started collecting hardcore records. I don’t have a copy of it, but it is on my list of things that I hope to get in the future!

Last but not least here is a funny little bonus item. Jonathan Anastis had these printed up for the ‘Gallery East Reunion Show’ on August 14th of this year. I HOPE that Jonathan had them printed up because he thought it was funny, but its possible that he just took it a little to seriously. Theres also a lot of irony in the fact that its got Straight Edge imagery on both sides and to the best of my knowledge the 2010 version of DYS didnt have one straight edge guy in the band. Oh… how the mighty have fallen!

Let’s see how much money we can make

I know my first post was a couple of GangGreen records, but I figure that after about a month off from posting I need to post up some Slapshot records! I expect these to tripple in value (not really) after the blazing set they played at the Gallery East Show last Sunday. As bummed as I was to be standing on the side again, there is no agruing how amazing Craigs wall of guitar sounded!

Heres a couple of chances to get a copy of the Firewalker 7″ both on black vinyl. A little ‘fun fact’ about this record is that the B-Side songs (Chip on my Shoulder & Moment of Truth) are listed as being live, but they are actually both the studio versions with the band making “crowd noise” that was added in the studio.

This record also came on white, red, blue & yellow vinyl but I also just came across a green copy that is possibly a mix of the yellow & blue vinyls? As far as I know each color was limited to 500 and I heard that the black was from a pressing of 3000, but that sounds kind of high.

ps. Anyone got a Taang! shirt like Jaime is wearing or a Maelstrom shirt like Jordan is wearing that they wanna sell me??

take your chances…. its .99 cents with no bids as of now

dont wanna wait…. just buy it now

I’m Back…

Unfortunantly I took most of August off from posting here, but the Noize Crew is more than strong, capable & large enough to get by without me. Either way I’m back and ready to get back into the thick of things!

I spent about 14 hours last Sunday in Revere, MA at Club Lido for the Gallery East Reunion Show which was FULL of high points and had very few low points.

One thing that could be either a high point or a low point depending how you want to look at it was when Chris Doherty puked on the stage. It wasnt a full on heaving vomit, but it was still something. Another personal high point (as silly as it is) was just hanging out backstage watching, once again, Chris Doherty pumping a keg and getting really pissed that it was so foamy. And now with that I bring you 2 GangGreen records that I have never seen in person….

1. Taang! Records #1 the ‘Sold Out’ 7″ on clear vinyl with the clear acetate sleeve limited and numbered to only 100 copies!

2. a Roadrunner Records re-release of ‘You Got It’ and ‘Older… Budweiser’ as a double LP.

Two cool records at both ends of the price spectum depending how deep your pockets are!
