Give Em Enough Logo Variations

When I first heard the Give Em Enough Rope LP I hated it. The S/T album was on constant rotation. And by constant I literally mean constant in a full meaning of that word. So when I got the GEER it really felt weak. I listened to it few times and then let it rot on my shelf for some year+
As I was NOT listening to the GEER I kept myself happy with the daily dose of the 1977 S/T and recently acquired London Calling that somehow clicked with me instantly.
Another 2+ years had gone by and I noticed that my dosage the 1st LP started to drop steadily while the dose of London Calling increased significantly.
Some more time had gone by and one day I decided to dust off the GEER LP. I listened to it once.. twice … three times and decided it was not half bad. By the time I started high school I was hooked on the GEER all the way. No looking back. Even now if you asked me which is my favourite Clash album I’d say without a second of hesitation: Give Em Enough Rope followed closely by London Calling and S/T

Now, what I can’t decide is which one of the few different logo designs used on the cover I like the most.

The earliest design from vinyltap1

or the US pressing (I think this could be my favourite one) from o.records

or the newer pressing with the thicker Chinese kanji looking thing sold by sdvintagecollectables

or if you don’t care about the logo design but you like a little extras why not pick up this Japanese pressing that comes with obi and AWESOME insert that NONE of the Euro/US copies came with? Here’s one from artfulxdodger

The Clash – Newbury Comics Exclusive 7″

If you’re from New England and your over 25 you probably remember the good old days of Newbury Comics. I remember the first time I went there and I was excited to see a book about the Sex Pistols and stickers and shirts of Judge, Youth of Today, Operation Ivy & Black Flag. What a day that was!

Well over the last 20 years Newbury has changed.. A LOT! You can still find some cool shirts there and they started carrying vinyl again, but sometimes its hard to find that good stuff amidst the sea of Pokemon cards, Nightmare Before Christmas dolls and Twilight posters.

A while back they started putting out records again like the old Modern Method days, but this time they called it Wicked Disc. They put out a few things including the ‘This is Boston, Not L.A.’ comp on CD, but it didnt go much further than that. Then a couple of years ago they decided to start a series of Newbury exclusive picture disc singles. First was a Sony records/Newbury exclusive single of The Clash live at Shea Stadium.

Its not a bad idea and it was limited to only 1500 copies, but it didnt seem to sell very well. Does anyone know if any other record chains put out this same single, but with their logo in place of the Newbury logo?

They followed up the Clash single with a Rhino records/Newbury exclusive live Ramones single that you can still get through Newbury here… http://www.newburycomics.com/rel/v2_viewupc.php?storenr=103&upc=103-1153006N
