The Fix – Jans Rooms / Touch & Go Tuesday

The second Fix 7″ from rickyball. Touch and Go really was into red construction paper back in the day weren’t they? Maybe Dave Stimson robbed a grade school art class for material to print on.

The Fix – Vengeance on Touch & Go Tuesday

Heres the other big boy of Touch & Go Tuesday from rickyball. This Fix “Vengeance” 7″ was one of 200 pressed but it goes for more than Sex Drive (100 pressed, see below) which doesnt make much sense to me. Sure it’s a better record but ill never own it so i dont really care in the long run.
However one time I was supposed to own this record. I was buying a large group of upper tier hardcore records from Ryan Richardson on a payment plan, (The Dicks – Hate The Police, Big Boys – Frat Cars, Fix – Vengeance among others) and got down to the last payment for the records when someone found out I was supposed to get this record for $750 and offered more behind my back to buy it. Lesson here – don’t tell dudes with no morals about your record dealings.

Fix Vengeance test press

Here’s a real corker from seller hypstr66

People have been discussing the authenticity of this record on a message board I read, and the consensus seems to be a solid “not sure”. Some third party experts have been called to the situation, so I guess we’ll have to wait and see where this one goes. If it’s real, expect this one to hit a pretty astronomical price.

Vengeance again

Another top shelf barnstormer from what77fuk. I can’t believe this is on ebay AGAIN, but I feel like I’m obligated to post it every time it shows up. Go ahead…

Some More Things That Are Not Like The Others.

Some more auctions from mrep, and they’re just as eclectic as they were the last time.

I am still kicking myself for trying to be crafty and making him an offer on the deer head from last time after no one went for the auction; Cooch tells me he already had an arrangement with someone else to buy it if it didn’t sell. So I’m kicking myself, because while I was prepared to pay what he asked, I figured it couldn’t hurt to try and haggle. Well guess what, it hurts. Especially because of how I have to bend to kick myself…

Vengeance the IVth

Unfuckingbelievable, sk82dth has listed the FOURTH copy of Vengeance to be up on ebay this year! I don’t know where these things are coming from (well actually I do with the other three), but it’s pretty insane to think that these things used to pop up, at best, once every two years… and here we have four since this summer. Normally I don’t like posting the same records over and over, but this guy deserves it. Cool graffiti on the labels too.

Jan’s Rooms

I saw Steve Miller from The Fix belt out 3 or 4 songs with Tesco Vee’s band a month or two ago in NYC, and let me tell you, it was pretty eff’n awesome. It was one of those situations where it was over as soon as it started, and I was left standing there scratching my head and thinking “wtf just happened?” His voice is still raw as hell, and these are still some of the best HC songs ever recorded.

This copy of Jan’s Rooms looks really nice, though I’m not sure if there’s an insert. I shot the guy a message to find out… either way still one of the best American HC records ever.

Touch & Go

Now that there’s a compilation book of all the old Touch & Go zines, I predict more old issues are going to start surfacing like these. There aren’t too many made of the pre-hardcore era issues, so I can see the prices getting pretty out of hand. Here are issues #5 and #8 from ’79-’80, the latter being cool for having the original cover image to the 2nd Fix 7″.

THE FIX – Vengeance

I don’t have too much to say about this record other than it’s one of the greatest and rarest hardcore records of all time, and hopefully someday I’ll actually own a copy. 200 made, rumors of copies being left on a heater and melted, and the rest fell into the vortex via mailorder and touring back in ’81. The opening bars of Vengeance send a chill down my spine every time I hear it, and In This Town ain’t no slouch either.

So sit back and watch the bloodbath unfold, or man up and hit the buy it now button.

THE FIX – Jan’s Rooms 7″

While not as rare as The Fix’s legendary debut, this record is still one of the best to ever come out of the midwest. Three relentless hardcore ragers mixing up equal parts Discharge and the Germs, capped off a slow burner that creeps along at a snail’s pace for 3/4 of the song before erupting into more HC fury. Bands just don’t know how to write a good dirge like this anymore.

This particular copy for sale has the earlier “spray paint” insert, which is much scarcer than the subsequent and smaller “mace” insert. The band was unhappy with the logo as it was printed on the insert, so they were all covered up with a shot of spray paint. Unpainted copies are rumored to exist but I’ve never seen one in person.

If you don’t want to shell out the gigabucks for the originals, I highly recommend picking up their At The Speed Of Twisted Thought reissue LP/CD on Touch & Go from a couple years ago.
