Confession.
I like first and second wave ska music.
At points in my life, I was ashamed of this fact. But over the years, I’ve gotten over that. It probably didn’t help that I once had the email address rudie@…edu. Oooofff. It just so happened that when it came time to PICK a username, I was hanging with this dude who was the lead singer for a local ska band (oh whut, The Dialtones!). I was definitely influenced, and some how came up with RUDIE. To this day, one or two old friends will drop a RUDIE reference. I don’t mind.
One of the bands I truly love is The Specials. That first full length album on Two-Tone Records brings a smile to my face every time. They ended up releasing a ton of singles on the Two-Tone label before it folded in 1986. The song Do Nothing is perhaps my favorite jam. Not sure why, but I’ve always been feeling it. Not super positive, but I dig it. B-side features Maggie’s Farm. Bob Dylan did it best, but The Specials are definitely a happy second.
