Back before the Chipmunks were a Saturday morning cartoon and had big budget CGI driven movies they actually put out some records. Most of the records were just compilations of current pop songs, but once in a while they did something special like these two…
The Chipmunks Sing The Beatles Hits feature 12 high pitch versions of Lennon/McCartney classics like “I Want to Hold Your Hand”, “A Hard Day’s Night”, “She Loves You” & “Twist and Shout”. This is the original 1964 Liberty Records version, not the 10 track 1982 reissue!
Also included in this 2 record lot is “Chipmunk Punk”, which would be more accuratly named if it was called Chipmunk New Wave. Released in 1980 this recorded ended a 10 year hiatus for the Chipmunks and sparked their return to TV and music! On this LP you get 9 tracks including, “Frustrated”, “My Sharona” & “Good Girls Dont” by the Knack, “You May Be Right” by Billy Joel, “Call Me” by Blondie, “Lets Go” by the cars and a few others.
If you’re not interested in the Beatles and only want the Chipmunk Punk LP check this one out cause its really cheap! Side Note, I have this LP and always wondered why they didnt turn the A on Alvins sweater into an Anarchy symbol.
