Tags Matching: They Might Be Giants

When I was in school all the punk rock girls loved 3 bands… The Cure, The Dead Milkmen and They Might Be Giants. If you wanted any chance with one of them you had to like at least 1 of those bands. I was already a fan of the Dead Milkmen when I got my first punk rock girlfriend. We really only dated for a month or two, but she used to write a lot of notes and give them to me between classes. I totally remember a bunch of the notes having “My name is blue canary one note spelled l-i-t-e – TMBG” written at the bottom of them. I had NO idea what it meant, but didnt want to have to ask. Eventually I asked a friend and he explained they were lyrics and who/what TMBG was. It was at that point that I started buying cassette after cassette until I found the Flood record and found the song that the quote was from. We had ‘broken up’ or more accurately she had just started dating someone else by the time found the quote, but I was still happy to find it and have liked all the early TMBG since.

This record does not contain the song that quote came from, but its an awesome song and its one that I always thought would be great if it was covered by a hardcore band (along with ‘Vogue’ by Madonna & ‘The Timewarp’ from Rocky Horror Picture Show).

147736 is one of the more odd used IDs I’ve seen, but hes got a some clothes, some vintage audio gear and an ST ‘Join the Army’ LP.
