Strictly speaking, there is not that much that is collectible about this record. As long as I have been buying records, I have seen this album in the bins of local independent record stores. Touch and Go have kept this sucker in print as long as there has been demand. Obviously there has been a lot of that, and there should be, as it is one of the best mid-west hardcore albums ever recorded. Tied Down is amazing. I’d be hard pressed to think of anyone who sounded angrier than John Brannon.
However, record collectors being who they are will find a reason to chase down variations and subsequently overspend to do so. This record is no exception. The first press of Tied Down has a Maumee, OH address as opposed to the current Chicago address. That address alone will make people spend ten to fifteen times the amount they need to if they were just looking to buy the record.
Who ever said this was about the music?
The purple 2nd press cover and labels don’t generate even close to the attention that address does!
braddoby2012 has your hookup for an original first press with the Maumee address. Sorry Europeans, he only likes Americans, Canadians and the Japanese. There are just a couple bids right now with close to a week left. Plenty of time for you to contemplate jumping in for that elusive address.
