Six More Degrees Of Standhard.

Seller soundofthewalls has brought us even more demos, which allows me to rack up another game of Six Degrees of Jesse Standhard. This one I think might be slightly more difficult. We’ll start with the hardest connection to make…

I never got into Time Flies, so I don’t know a lot about them, but I do remember there being a story about members of Ten Yard Fight torturing Curtis on their tour together by kidnapping a stuffed Cookie Monster? That sounds so absurd I almost have to be remembering it wrong. Regardless, this connects Time Flies to Ten Yard Fight, a band which featured Clevo on bass. And after TYF broke up, Clevo went on to play bass in…

Stop And Think. What, were you expecting me to jump right to the finish and pick Right Brigade*? Nuh uh, that’s not how we’re playing this game. Yes, Clevo played bass in both Stop and Think and Right Brigade, but the difference is he wasn’t kicked out of Stop and Think. He did however go on to play in Jesse’s Scab Brigade after being unceremoniously booted from RB. Speaking of scabs, another notable bass playing scab of the time was Matt Summers, who played in ScabPunch and…

Rain on the Parade. I don’t actually have a ton to say about ROTP, in general or in regards to making a connection that gets us to Standhard (tho there almost has to be more than one), but it should be noted that they played the Trash American Style benefit show that was put out as a live cd compilation**. Said compilation also featured such bands as Fastbreak, Time Will Tell, and…

Follow Through. Hey, guess who played bass in Follow Through? The same guy who sang for…

Invasion. Standhard’s last and arguably greatest band. Unfortunately, no footage of this band seems to exist that hasn’t been seen 100 times now***, but I did find footage from the post-Heist fest basement show that Mental, Wrong Side, and “Invasion” (Righteous Jams with Jesse singing) played after the 2005 fest was shut down before any of us got to play. I think we all did 3 or 4 songs, and it was ridiculous. The video doesn’t even do it justice, we’re talking a tiny ass basement packed with people going all the way out the door, every one going nuts, air so humid you could see sweat mist, Jeff Perlin hanging around outside… top 3-5 gigs any of our bands ever did for sure.

That light absolutely positively ended up broken by the end of the night. Sadly, so did this dude’s camera: that was the first song played, and the last song he got any footage of.

Question For Time Flies Fans

Calling all Time Flies fans, redscrollstore needs more information. I don’t have the answer. I only ever saw Time Flies twice. Winter 99 and April 99. Not June. So who knows what the deal with this EP is? Record release? Tour? Lets hear it.
