GENERATION OF CASH

I wonder what are the actual reasons the Americans have for not wanting to post abroad. There’s one clear benefit: the number of bidders increases immensely and with countries that did not go to any war and are in good economical standing people have money to spend. I can’t see a single reason and I do mean it, not even one, for not wanting to send records worldwide.

I was recently checking the prices of Misfits Beware as I am thinking of selling one and all of the recent ones sold for anything between $250 and $350 except for one that ended at $153.
I checked the description and sure enough:

“I ONLY ship to USA. (Don’t even ask!)”

May this be a lesson to baosgarden and to every other seller that comes out with this “only US” generation of nonsense.

The History of No Future??? Does that even make sense?

In punk it just might. In those ancient times before music looked like this: 01000100111100011000111110001100011 you needed to make a tad bit of effort to look up new bands. It was the time when compilations actually served a purpose, giving you a nice summary of what this or that band was all about and as far as good comps go this one is right up there near the top of the pile. It’s got everything you could ever want from a good comp: great bands with amazing songs, cool looking cover and to top that it’s on colour vinyl. Seller robotarm brings you the lesson in the history of the future that never happened. Pink vinyl limited to 500 or so they say.

WHO? was Moet The Poet?

WHO? was Moet The Poet?
WHAT? else did he record?
WHY? did he disappear?
WHEN? will I find out more about that lad?
WHERE? is he now?

About a month ago I popped the WHO?WHAT? comp on my turntable for the 1st time in maybe 15 years? and listened to it on repeat probably more than 20 times. It’s that good. WHY? did I forget about it for so long? I don’t know. WHAT? I do know is that Moet The Poet track got stuck and kept playing in my head for the whole month and I could NOT turn it off. Don’t know WHY?
I tried to google the lad but hit a brick wall. All I managed to find out was that he played one gig at The Ace on the 8th of October 1983 with Hagar The Womb, Lost Cherees, Vex, Anthrax, The Partisans, Vortex, Omega Tribe and Conflict.
WHAT? a line up!!!
I would gladly donate one of my kidneys to a Christian charity of your choice if you could transport me back in time to the 8th of Oct 1983. Since that isn’t happening anytime soon I am stuck listening to my Increase The Pressure album with B-side recorded at that very gig. I wonder if anyone recorded Moet The Poet that night??

Anyway, hivoltagerecords has WHAT? seems to be the original 1984 pressing of this great comp for sale with a slightly high BIN but it seems to be in a good nick (as long as that price sticker is on the poly bag and not on the cover) and it comes with this big fold out lyric sheet/poster so WHY? not jump on it?

If that’s too rich for your blood bluemoon-half has a still sealed recent repress although something tells me these didn’t come with inserts (I may be wrong on that though)

Strike Anywhere Change Is A Sound LP

I didn’t REALLY start collecting records until 2000 or 2001. Before that, I just picked up tshirts and said, “I don’t need records.” Then for a while, I would only buy EPs.

Yeah, I’m weird, what do you want?

One of the first new LPs I picked up was Change Is A Sound on grey vinyl. I bought it at the Newbury Comics in Shrewsbury while hanging with my friend John Hammand (not the pianist dude, sadly). We were driving around after some ridiculous CS classes in 2001 and hit up the Newb. Ben Cummings may have been working that day. I would later purchase ALL of his brother’s record collection. That was the day my collection really took off.

In fact, according to my timeline, I bought most of Dickie’s collection 8 years and 2 days ago. February 6, 2002. How about that? Time flies. I actually purchased his collection in two scoops. The first scoop was lots of early rare Rev gear (together comp on orange, warzone on orange, soia on red & black stamped, gb on yellow, judge on green, gb on purple, … straight ahead lp). The second scoop was everything else. Which included 15 copies of the Converge Halo In a Haystack LP. Dope.

But this feels like the LP I really started it all off with. And hanging with these guys for a week in 2006 was a definite trip. Great dudes. Shout outs to Garth and his GB Tour 91 longsleeve with yellow ink on the sleeves!
