Van Halen & Van Hagar 7″s

We’ve been pretty spoiled with cool record stores in Rhode Island since I got into collecting back in the late 80′s. We had In Your Ear, Fast Forward, Goldies, Skippy Whites & Tom’s Tracks which all closed down. We still have Armageddon Shop & Analog Underground, but we recently lost another one. Lukes Record Exchange has been a staple of rock & roll shopping for about 30 years and they recently closed their doors. Now granted they havent really had much cool stuff in a long time, but Luke’s is where I got my Metallica ‘Whiplash’ 12″ and plenty of other old metal stuff. I also got a ton of really cheap hip-hop cassettes a while back when I went though a ‘phase’. Luke’s retail store will be missed, but he will continue to sell stuff online like these Van Halen picture sleeve singles.

Be sure to check out Lukes other auctions if you’re looking for a Slayer headband, Anthrax necklace or Whitesnake wall tapestry too!

Van Halen/Black Sabbath split test WTF?

I think that my favorite eBay id for the week is definitly murderchrist it kind of says it all! He’s got a bunch of cool (probably bootleg) thrash vinyl and hes got this…. Van Halen / Black Sabbath – Fan Club release.

I know that most of the time a ‘fan club release’ is like code for bootleg, but I still dont understand this record. Who would press a record (bootleg or not) that has a David Lee Roth acapella version of ‘Running With The Devil’ on side A and a version of ‘Paraoid’ by Black Sabbath but with different lyrics?!

It might be enough of an oddity to be worth bidding on because I am curious about the differnt lyrics to ‘Paranoid’. Its definitly a WTF record!

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!

In honor of Memorial Day, here is pretty much the only record that came up when I was searching for ‘memorial day’ related vinyl.

I dont know exactly what it is, but best as I can tell it is a pre-recorded radio show hosted by David Lee Roth, Michael Anthony, Eddie & Alex Vanhalen. I guess that radio stations could get this vinyl box set and play it over Memorian Day weekend in 1994.

Weird… but probably pretty rare and funny to listen to now.
