And here is that Wailers “Catch A Fire” zippo cover. Island went all out with this one. Die cut cover in the shape of a zippo, hinged cover that flips open. I cant imagine what this would cost to make today. This one for sale by pip1964 is a little worse for wear, with the top hinged part having come undone. Easy to see how that could happen with 38 years of being flipped open by stoners.

At least Catch A Fire is a self destructive record and isnt going to destroy the rest of your record collection like this zipper cover of Sticky Fingers from hometown record store in_your_ear_records

Flower Travellin’ Band

I was introduced to the Flower Travellin’ Band a few years ago with a copy of this LP. The only disclaimer that came with the introduction was that Satori was the only really good FTB album and that I should avoid all the others. I dont know if thats totally true or not because I havent check out the others, but I can confirm that Sarori is awesome!

I just read last week that Joe Yamanaka the singer passed away after a battle with lung cancer. Not only was Joe the singer for FTB, but he was also an actor in Japan and after becoming a good friend of Bob Marley, Joe became the singer of The Wailers after Marleys death.

All that being said if you like weird psychadelic 70′s rock with a pinch of oddity and maybe even a little punk you should definitly check out Flower Travellin’ Band. Either pick up this awesome original Japanese press or one of the more recent re-issues and you wont be sorry!
