This 7″ falls into one of my favorite categories of records — the unreleased test press. The rarest of the rare, if you will.
Zolar X was a glammy proto-punk band out of the LA area, circa mid 70s, who dressed like martians. Kind cool, kinda weird. They made 10 copies of this 45, I’m not sure if they ever intended to run a full press or not, but as it stands the songs only exist on this record. My friend just had the good fortune of finding one of these for a couple bucks in LA and turning it around for almost a grand, lucky him. Check Zolar X out on youtube, they have some pretty catchy tracks. Also check out the video in the auction for some very “interesting” commentary from the guitar player.
